S60 not showing shot measurement

I just got the Approach S60. Coming from a Motoactiv circa 2012 I figured this would be a huge upgrade, especially considering the cost. My watch doesn't display the yardage measurement of a shot on the main screen -- such as this image where it shows 135 yards at the top of the screen - [External Link Removed]

Needless to say, this is disappointing. I'm hoping there's a setting I need to change, but the manual makes it read as if it's automatic. From the manual --> https://www8.garmin.com/manuals/webhelp/approachs60/EN-US/GUID-5F5A59EC-65E5-4EE3-9541-797E84A1B1A2.html "When the device detects a shot, your distance from the shot location appears in the banner  at the top of the screen." This hasn't worked for the 2 rounds I've played. Again, I'm a newbie so hoping it's something I need to set up. Otherwise I'm afraid I have a lemon instead of a watch.

I  have this problem as well and it is very annoying. On my S60 it seems to be intermittent. For example, last time I played it didn't work at all. Tod ay when I started the round it worked until on about the 5th hole I pressed the little flag icon to reposition the flag on the green and then after that (remaining 13 holes) the distance from the shot no longer worked!

It is either an intermittent fault or there is some strange sequence of events which causes the function to become inoperable . . . I wish Garnin would fix it though because it is a very useful feature especially if you are looking for a ball.

I think this is the fix.

Turn off the big numbers in golf settings. I think that's the fix.

I a m left handed, after a lot of tests I realized that the shot distance is taken only when the watch is on my right arm. Unconvenient, but that is a fix!
