S60 not showing shot measurement

I just got the Approach S60. Coming from a Motoactiv circa 2012 I figured this would be a huge upgrade, especially considering the cost. My watch doesn't display the yardage measurement of a shot on the main screen -- such as this image where it shows 135 yards at the top of the screen - [External Link Removed]

Needless to say, this is disappointing. I'm hoping there's a setting I need to change, but the manual makes it read as if it's automatic. From the manual --> https://www8.garmin.com/manuals/webhelp/approachs60/EN-US/GUID-5F5A59EC-65E5-4EE3-9541-797E84A1B1A2.html "When the device detects a shot, your distance from the shot location appears in the banner  at the top of the screen." This hasn't worked for the 2 rounds I've played. Again, I'm a newbie so hoping it's something I need to set up. Otherwise I'm afraid I have a lemon instead of a watch.

  • Updating... I decided to call Garmin support and just spoke with Landry. He suggested that you need to initiate the shot measurement feature when you start your round. If I understand correctly, if you're on the first tee, for example, you need to hit the top button and then select the green ball icon. My first two rounds that has shown my swing tempo. But hopeful that this is a fix. If so, the manual should include this information!

  • I will try this next round I play. I didnt know the S60 did that! I use the distance last shot by pressing top button but didnt know you can have it displaying awlays

Thanks, I’m playing again tomorrow so will try it. I have bought new irons and this feature would help. Have you tried resetting the watch?

  • doing that at moment. i played today and my scorecard graphic shave not appeared. I am re-installing resetting the lot as someone on here said was a good idea.

  • Apart from Garmin express on my PC, I am having a fresh start with everything (CT10's full set, watch S60, Garmin golf, Garmin app (android). Everything was working OK although I hadnt played golf since mid september. What a nuisance this is! to many items to have to interact with. I als use a heart strap and footpod for jogging and squash so they will also need pairing again. this is a farce

Mine was a simple fix I had the ‘big numbers’ setting on which seemed to stop the shot measurement at the top, now sorted. Good luck with yours

  • Everything working great now. During a round the screen shows the last shot distance and view of the hole on right hand side. All my shots detected and scorecard graphic looks great. I only have one issue now. Watch restarts when I access the course just after it locates satellites. Once it recovers from that all seems OK
