I am sorry you are having this issue. It sounds like the watch needs to be serviced. Please reach out to your regional Golf Product Support team. We would be happy to further assist.
I had an almost similar issue. After the battery of my Approach S60 went completely empty, it didn't react on a connection to a power outlet. After reading the User Manual (on line) I tried the different steps. Changing the power supply (iPhone/iPad charger) , changing the cable, nothing helped. The S60 screen stayed black, no blue triangle or some indication of activity. Upon till I hold the middle button for more than 30 seconds and do hit it again. It went alive and indicating a 42% charge level. (the time i spent looking and reading around for a solution. )
So black screen, frozen situation, with or without anything on the screen : put the charging cable and hold the “middle” button for 30 seconds. and again for one second. For my situation , it did the trick. Ouf !

Hello,
I did have the problem again once, and then this trick worked every time when the watch was in a "frozen" state.
(The software can only react when the watch is at least slightly charged. This "frozen" software issue occurs when the battery is empty, but can continue even when the battery is 100% charged. The software is stuck, the battery can be charged, but the watch remains in "frozen" state).
But therefore, also check the 4 contacts on the back of the watch. These may be damaged or covered in dirt.
But it should work with the following steps :
1. clean the contacts of the watch and also the charging cable
2. connect the charging cable and charge the watch for a certain time, say 30 minutes. (even though you see nothing on the Garmin's screen)
3. only then press and hold the middle button for at least 30 seconds.
4. release the key very briefly and then press it again for a second or so.
This might fix the problem. If not , I would definitely do the same test with another cable. Use only original (expensive) Garmin cables and stay away from the cheap fake cables from Chinese sellers. These are guaranteed to damage the contacts of your Garmin watch! Absolutely avoid. If your watch won't charge because of the bad contacts, this trick obviously won't work.
Good luck !

You little beauty, this worked a treat
THank you, as I had the same problem happen on the golf course. I turned on my watch, searched for courses, found the course and selected it. Unfortunately, it was the wrong course. I turn the watch off, and then restarted the watch & then the watch went dead. I had thought i had not charged the watch or I accidentally left it on.
You solution did the trick. Thank you
