Plays Like distance stopped working

After I connected my S50 to Garmin Express and did a map update (Europe 7.20), the plays like distances do not display anymore.

Tappig/toggling them on does also result in layup distances showing as 0.

I have already set the watch back to factory settings (including deletion of data) and did set it up again. That did not help unfortunately. Firmware is Version 4.63

Suggestions on how to proceed and bring back the plays like distances are highly appreciated.



Note that I am off course...but I doubt that being on course would change anything as plays like used to always show before the problem started to occur.

    Support chat confirmed that there is a support case for this problem. Unfortunately, after two weeks, I have not received any feedback.
    Todays Map update to version 25.10 made it even a lot worse. Distances are way off.

    Kind of disappointed. Will return product and not consider buying another one.

    Garmin is the process of releasing a fix for this concern with the PlaysLike Distance no longer displaying after updating the course mapping. 

    Once the fix has been released, users that have reported the issue will be notified via email from Garmin, and I will update the verified response here in forums advising from there. 

    Our apologies on the timeline being longer than expected, as solutions related to software can take some time while the solution is being determined and developed...as updates to software is typically released to all users and a great degree of care is involved in this process. Communication related to a ticket in-progress is typically not sent until the solution correcting the issue is available.

    Thank you for reacting to my post.
    I want to share a positive development to the issue.

    Connecting with Garmin Express today hinted, that there is a map update available. While the acutal regional maps (Americas, Europe/MENA, Pacific) remained at the same version as before, the App did install 'CourseView DEM Worldwide 4.40' on my watch.
    This seems to have solved the problem with the PlayLike distances, as these do show again (and seem to be correct as far as I checked).

    There are still courses (or at least one), where the distances are way off as can be seen in the pictures I posted above.
    However, I reckon this might be a bad update by the data supplied from the actual course?
    I have checked the data for numerous courses, all seemed legit apart from one.

    I appreciated if you could comment on that - is there a way I can check with the actual Golfclub that specific course with wrong data belongs to?
    Is there a chance that actually being on the course and using GPS will have a correcting effect on the bogus distances shown offline?

    EDIT:
    I think we are good again.... I removed all previously added Golf Courses in the Garmin Golf Mobile App, downloaded them again and then synced the watch. That seems to have helped and corrected the wrong distances shown before.
    In other words... I am happy again ;)
    While there has not been any communication related to the mentioned ticket (yet), from my personal side it can be regarded as solved.

  • If you notice distances or other information displaying for a specific course it may be due to changes made by the course since our last update to the map for that club. 

    For these reports, a golf course report submission through our site is needed which can be submitted through the form in the link here: https://www.garmin.com/forms/golfcourses/ 

    Note that if you submit a course report, it can take several months before an update is implemented into the bundled course map updates we release for everyone to install. Once a map update containing any fixes needed is available for the course you report...an email will be sent to you advising to update your course mapping.
