Disable standby mode when using GSPRO connector

whenever GarminR5 sends the message entering standby mode to gspro we instantly lose connection to the gs pro connector and have to restart the connection process which is pretty inconvenient especially during rounds. could you guys please disable the standby message when leveraging the gs pro connector app? thanks.

  • If the green light is on it is 3 minutes to take your shot or it goes into standby. This is in GSPro.

With red light is on I’m now over 25 minutes and no standby in GSPro range.

When on Garmin range it’s 3 minutes green and 20 minutes red.

it took less than a minute to connect back to GSPro and didn’t lose the GSPro data.

  • that's a pretty inconvenient sequence and way more minutes for juniors or unknowledgeable folks to adjust to. stop sending the system in standby mode would be the better play.

  • With red light on in GSPro it takes a very long time to go into standby mode. Too long to even care or worry about it.

Green light is 3 minutes either way. Not a big deal to me.

  • Thanks for that feedback. Glad it's not inconvenient for you but we have instructors for juniors here and post swing discussions can run a bit long. knowing that leaving it in the red state gives us more time is a big help. ty

  • Oh ok, I get it now. This could be an issue when instructing kids. If the unit is plugged in I don’t understand the sleep mode function regardless of green or red light. Maybe it saves camera life. I believe the camera is active when the green light is on. Would be good to know this.

  • Thank you all for voicing your concerns about this. If you'd like to prevent your R50 from going into standby mode, you can disable that setting in the device's battery and power settings. You can find that under the Menu > Settings > Battery & Power.

If you notice that your R50 is still going into standby mode even when this setting is set to "Off", please comment again so we can continue assisting with this.

  • No that does not stop the unit from going into standby after 3 min. This only stops it from shuting down after 20 min inactivity.

pleace also add a posibility to turn of the 3 minute standby

or add the “Resume” function on the R50 screen when using 3rd party app. Like it is when just using the R50

  • Yes the machine still goes into standby mode even with the power saver disabled.

  • It could be that they don’t want the camera activated for over 3 minutes at a time. If you were outside in the summer there may be an overheating issue.

  •     I just sent each of you an email regarding the concerns raised in this thread. Please respond to it directly if you have any questions.

If anyone else is experiencing issues with their Garmin Approach R50 entering Standby Mode and losing connection with GSPro despite Power Saver/Screen Timeout being disabled, please comment below. Thank you!
