Disable standby mode when using GSPRO connector

whenever GarminR5 sends the message entering standby mode to gspro we instantly lose connection to the gs pro connector and have to restart the connection process which is pretty inconvenient especially during rounds. could you guys please disable the standby message when leveraging the gs pro connector app? thanks.

  • I end the session on R50 then just re-connect which doesn’t lose the round. I left the room for an hour and the R50 didn’t go into standby mode but other times it could be 15 minutes and it goes into standby. It re-connects fairly quick though. I think if you leave a ball in view of the camera and don’t hit, the unit goes into standby sooner.

Is your unit going into standby fairly quickly? Mine was doing this when I first purchased it but it has been really good lately.

  • disabling power saver didnt help. Garmin please stop putting this machine in standby mode when in gspro connector mode.

  • Is it going into standby mode when a ball is not in the hitting area?

Mine does not go into standby mode unless a ball is in the hitting zone and 20 minutes goes by.

  • basically if someone isnt hitting or moving a ball in and out of the hitting box

  • You should get in touch with Garmin support directly.

  • oh i thought that they actually monitored their forums.

  • I was using a GC3 and if you left a ball in view and walked away for 15 minutes the entire unit shuts down and you lose your round. Maybe it overheats or something.

I don’t know why the R50 goes into this standby mode. Maybe it’s a sensor or something that triggers it. I would not want it to shut completely off and lose the round.

Going to research this a little more.

  • They should allow us to disable standby mode when the R50 is plugged in. I spoke with garmin and the Only reason for this is to save battery. 3 minutes when ball is in front with green light and 20 minutes when ball is not infront “Red” light.

  • Mine doesn’t do this. I have had the ball out of view and came back an hour later and it didn’t do anything. I was in a range session in GSPro.

With a ball in view I have seen it hold for 15 to 20 minutes. Also in GSPro.

Maybe in a range session without 3rd party connection and ball in view the unit could go into standby mode and come out just by touching the screen.

I have it on right now. Going to test some things.

  • This log entry to GSPRO connect is a big part of what disconnects us. stop this action while the garmin is in gspro connector mode.
