Garmin CT10 and R50.

So I have bought right into the Garmin universe, coming from the Shotscope world.

While I had no issue with the Shotscope products and still promote them to friends who don't want the additional expenses, I liked what Garmin has done with the Z30 as well as the Approach S70 watch.

I like the fact the R50 will store my data in the same place that they store club info.  My Bag.

I am wondering if there is a plan to have the CT10 sensors be able to inform the R50 what club is being used in the range?

Be great to just take a club out of the bag, and have it registered automatically  and collect the appropriate data for use on the golf course.

Is there any thought to doing this for those that have both?

  • There are not any announcements at this time in regards to the Approach CT-10 sensors and Approach R50 compatibility. If any new announcements related to this request become available, Garmin will notify users.

Since the release of the Approach CT-10 sensors, they have always been designed to work with golf devices that use GPS while golfing at an actual course location to automate scoring and shot tracking.

  • Agreed, but think it would be great to pull a club out at the sim, and have it know the club.  You have bluetooth in the R50 already so this would be simply detect club so I don't have to. Would make it easier to switch clubs around at the range as well.

Why not gather data from the sim rounds as well to compliment the real ones?

  • I agree that the CT10 sensor are supposed to make club tracking convenient, and they do while playing on the course but it would be nice if they would do the same for the R10 and R50. It only helps to justify the purchase of the CT10.

  • +1 to this. I used to have Arccos and it was a great system. I switched over to the Garmin ecosystem with my Fenix 7x watch and R50, so I was thinking about getting the CT10 as well. However I just can't justify $300 for a full set of sensors that came out in 2018 (7 years ago!), but if they worked with the R50 that might change. Especially if they worked with HTH and my watch.

If I could look at my watch, it syncs with the R50 and gives me all the data it would show on the course, and then pull out a club and hit and the watch/R50 would know which club it is and where it goes. Then I could go to the Garmin Golf app and see the round and what club I hit every shot, and all sorts of club metrics (distance, etc) during sim round play. That would truly be a unified ecosystem.

Right now however it feels like they have all these golf devices that don't really work together. All it would take is investing in the software to get them synced, all the hardware is already there for it.

  • I totally agree on most points, though having the complete ecosystem, the R50 is the only piece left out in a great way.

The S70 (Fenix 8 coming) with the Z30 rangefinder, and the CT10 tags work fantastic as a group.

Because I am a left handed, right swinging golfer, I wear a watch on the right hand.

With other tags I had to touch (CT1) or Shotscope tags had to be close to the watchband.  I had to wear two watches.

Now I have just one, because the clubs have an active battery, they have no issue registering.  They pick up my putts, chips, and regular shots fantastic, and I enjoy the software.

The Z30 is magic.  Nail the flag and then it shows you on your watch the pin placement on the green and adjusts the Middle to the real distance in front/middle/back.

    But I agree.

The R50 should be able to know my club whether it gets it from the club, or the watch.  It has bluetooth.

Love to hit my clubs in the sim, but have that data used by the virtual caddy.

Not just the rounds played on a golf course.
