Start up issues

On several occasions my R50 doesn’t turn on. Also on start up it may display the Garmin logo, and then the screen goes blank.

After many attempts it finally starts.

I’m concerned as the unit is new.

Thanks for the link regarding screen locking up during startup.

and the info on the overhead view issue when in range mode using an external monitor.

Both issues are a real problem that need to be resolved…

Both issues are a real problem that need to be resolved by Garmin, very frustrating and disappointing for such an expensive piece of kit.

Turn off wifi. This solved all my problems. I suspect it’s phoning home on startup and also when you make various selections on the device.

They said they got the underlying issue fixed and that once booted up - sync with Garmin app? Where do I sync? I had R50 hard reset 2 times yesterday, turn it on - doesnt turn on, hold the button for 10-15 seconds and then turns on. Checked my garmin golf app and garmin connect app - nothing to sync there with Approach R50
