Garmin r50 Alignment issues

I'm set up with enclosure, I offset alignment to 6.5 degrees left so when I hit my screen in middle it flys straight. When I leave practice area and play HTH does the unit automatically revert back to 0 degrees in alignment? Instantly all my previous straight shots in practice are straight left? In HTH on course i can't adjust alignment to check what it is set at? Attached set up pic

  • The target alignment in Home Tee Hero mode is set to 0. Directional alignment in Home Tee Hero is set manually in relation to the course layout for aiming on-screen.

Home Tee Hero does not allow target alignment due to the alignment being user adjustable in relation to the 3D course map layout while playing.

The placement of the R50 on the floor surface may need adjusted if you are noticing shots going left, and you are certain (based on the shot metric data) that there is no reason for the shot to take that direction after reviewing the metrics displayed and shot playback from the cameras.

If you are indoors using practice mode, the target alignment feature is not needed...as the the alignment feature is designed to allow for the R50 to remain in place while aiming at driving range targets outdoors at an actual range.

The driving rage modes for Crooked Creek, Green Valley, and Palm Island allow the user to manually set the direction on the 3D layout of the driving range to change target locations on the map of the range. Distance Range does not allow for manual movement on the driving range layout due to the distance range being designed for hitting shots straight for distance measurement in a straight line.

Setting the alignment may make sense on a larger indoor setup where targets are setup at the end of the ball flight where the ball is being hit towards or into if you can accurately align the direction with the proximity of those targets in relation to your shot location where the R50 is setup.

  • Same issue when playing HTH have to aim mile right to hit flag but on range aim about 7 degrees left to be on flag any fixes for this.

  • Same concern. I set up my alignment in practice, warm up and then shift to HTH…and the alignment reverts to 0. I’d be a useful option to retain the alignment as you shift activities.

  • Home Tee Hero does not require the alignment setting tool that is offered in practice mode, as you aim directionally using the screen and the 3D map graphic during the round.

Hitting indoors, you should aim in a general straight direction, and align precise aiming on the map graphic for each shot on each hole.

Per my verified response above, the alignment setting is not calibrating the cameras to capture more straight...it is to allow the user to change aim in the 3D graphic layout without having to physically move the unit, or physically change aiming directions in your actual setup environment.

  • i am sorry but to me this answer makes no sense.

the ball flight direction is measured in relation to the orientation of the unit (at 0 degree alignment this means a shot perpendicular to the unit is flying straight)

for HTH if i set a new virtual target on the screen - when i go to strike a ball i still need to aim (for a straight shot) perpendicular to the direction the unit is pointing is it is aligned at 0 degrees

but there is no way to verify that target line if there is no way to align the unit  in HTH  !!

  • In relation to your setup...you need to take a straight shot off the matt as the unit is determining your shot as if it was straight in real time, and virtually the direction of the ball is based on where you have it aimed on-screen in relation to the map of the course.

If you are asking for more alignment features, please input feedback on the post linked here: https://forums.garmin.com/outdoor-recreation/golf/f/approach-r50/401279/offset-the-external-display

  • Sorry Cody. Not understanding what you mean here. How will I know if my shot is straight if I can't confirm the unit is aligned correctly with regard to my target or at least aligned per what I am using as a target?

  • Per the steps outlined on my previous response. Again, if you want more features feel free (if you have not already) to express wanting more features for the R50 on the post I linked previously, if you want more options for alignment in home tee hero.

I do not know how you have your setup environment, or what other displays you are using, etc. I have explained how to directionally control your intended target using home tee hero, I am not sure how else to explain it to you further. Other users have also advised on this thread as well.

Please contact Garmin Support for further guidance if you continue to have questions on this, as they can speak with you to go over any concerns you may have.
