Crazy putting speed?

Just bought GSPro today and connected it to my R50. Played Lofoten Links. Everything works good, but not the putting. Stimp was set to 10 and when I hit a 30 cm putt on a flat green it goes almost 4-5 meters..? Several times the same result. When I set the stimp to 6 it became a little better, but this is not good enough. Garmin have to solve this.

  • Yes, I agree with you. It is just those contrifibularities (learned most of my English from Edmund Blackadder) with the putting, the standby modus and differences from practice green vs on course greens - very strange.. Otherwise it is bang on!

Another thing: I have made a box of plexi glass which covers the unit and keeps it protected from accidents - especially with the not so skilled youngsters in mind. It works fine. I thought the cameras would have problems, but so far it seems ok.
I will pay for an insurance anyway, though. 1.500 NOK per year, about 120-130 USD. Worth it.

Another thing 2: This goes to Garmin. Lots of different people from my community have tested my R50. Among these, two separate organizations who works with people that - 1) have had a hard life and is trying to get on the mend, and - 2) people that come from different and caothic parts of the world and need help to get socialized and integrated. Golf is a bright spot in all these persons everyday lives.
Garmin can expect 2 new orders on the R50 in the coming days. I have been a good boy. Now, get that putting fixed :-)

  • That is awesome my friend! Keep up the good work.

  • The kids group played Sanctuary today. Great course, great graphics and some really cool surprises here and there - especially the hole where you are warned to not use a driver :-) Great fun. Thanks for recommending. The monkey looking creatures reminded me of some courses in Thailand where monkeys actually jumps into the golf carts while you take a shot, steal your phone and other stuff before they climb back in the tree, laughs at you and do things with your belongings that you absolutely do not want anyone to do :-)

My profession is 3D graphics/animation etc. I have 25 years experience with 3D Studio MAX, and I also have done some inetractivity stuff with Unity - same program used to make the courses in GSPro.
I want to try building a course, firstly my home course and remake that in a way that I think it should be in the future. You have some shortcuts for me here? Who do I contact? You have any idea of the process?

  • You are very ambitious. That’s a good thing. Go to Pacman Studios and get in touch with this guy. I believe he is the guy that can help you build a course.

i still can’t play as much as I want. I played Winn Golf Club Vegas and played well but two days later had pain come back in the elbow and forearm. I’ve been through it before so it’s a matter of just easing off and stretching and strengthening.

Saw Joe do a video on 9 holes and only watched 3 holes. The HLA on GSPro matches what I see on course. Launch angle on the R50 also matches what I see. The speed in GSPro at 13 stimp with R50 isnt advisable imo at the moment. A true 13 stimp for non tour players in real life is asking for punishment as it is.

    Hit em straight!

  • Putting is much better in GSPro now with the update. Still not good in HTH.

I made my first 20’ putt in GSPro practice area. I put a laser down and hit it perfectly down the line and the putt didn’t move. It’s getting better!

Stanby mode now works when you touch the screen. This will make a lot of people happy!

  • That is great news! Look forward to testing it out. Spending most of my time in a bubble with programming and designing a course now. My admiration for the course designers grow day by day, this is hard and LOTS of work :-)
Very impressed by the whole GSPro community and all the effort, engagement and idealism there.

Thanks for the heads up. All the best to you and your swing :-)
