For some reason my r10 isn’t picking up some shots.

I am in the correct area and have the right distance. It does it every now and then with my irons, but happens 2/3 of the time with my driver. It normally only picks it up if it was bad contact. I am not sure if I am doing something wrong or if it isn’t built for ball speeds above 170.

  • Ensure the following recommendations have been attempted to help correct the concern:

    • Adjust the spacing of the R10 behind your shot from 6ft to 7ft or vice versa.
    • Ensure the surface you have the R10 setup on is level, or calibrate your R10 from the Profile > My Devices > Select Approach R10 > Select the Calibration option from the device menu.
    • Ensure there are not any objects immediately next to the R10, 4ft to the left or right of the shot line.
    • Confirm the R10 is on the same level surface where the tripod legs are sitting on, and adjust up or down to see if that helps if you are teeing up driver shots higher up.
    • Ensure you have at least 8ft or more from the shot location to the target location the ball is being hit into.
    • Contact Garmin Support if you have concerns, as a golf specialist can gather a photo of the setup to help further determine if any environmental factors may be affecting the R10 capturing shots.
  • I have had similar issues, and what seemed to help me was:

    1. moving the R10 Closer to the ball ( 7 feet vs 9 feet)

    2. Placing the tripod directly on the floor.  PreviousIy I had it sitting on a short 2x4 which raised it a bit off the floor and I don't think that was necessary and may have been part of the problem.

  • I sometimes get shots that are way lower and shorter than they should be.  When that happens I notice on the R10 that it did not record values for Side Spin, Face to Path, Club Path, Attack Angle and Club Face.  The next shot might also be bad but it might not.  I'm in a metal building with metal ceilings and the cell reception can fade out enough to cause this....

I'm currently running at 6 feet from R10 to Ball, definitely have less "bad shots" than at 8 or 9 feet.
