R10 distances still way short

Hi all

I have been tinkering with my R10 since the 3.9 update (never worked before that, usual solid green issue on backswing).

I was hitting tentatively into a net at first so didn't really pay much attention to the short yardage.

Yesterday my 3mx3mx3m cage for the garden arrived, so I took the day off today to test properly. My device is level and the bottom of legs are level with the tee mat height wise as advised.

All of my distances are way off, varying from 10 yards on short irons, 15-30 on mid to long irons and 30-50 with driver.

I have experimented with differing device heights and between 5-6 foot from R10 to ball with the distance from ball to net a constant 12 feet. Nothng seems to make a difference.

Being an Android user, I cannot calibrate the device in E6 wwith the altitude setting like this guy does: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BD_Yol7io9g

Is there anything else I can try?

There seems to be so so many users complaining of this, it cannot all be user error!

I am hoping Garmin will do another update to try and rectify these issues. Or at least a workaround similar to the E6 fix.

Even with these failings I absolutely love the device. The shot shape seems spot on, just the swing speed and therefore distances also.

  • I am also experiencing losing about 10 yards with my PW and a few m

  • And Garmin wants me to consider buying an R50.... I don't think so.... If they can't fix/respond to an obvious distance issue with the R10, or at least allow in-app +/- distance adjustments for each club,  or adjustments for irons and woods.  Or, maybe just acknowledge there's an issue and they are working on a fix..... blah...LOL.... I understand there are 100 different environmental factors at play.  But that's more the reason to allow for these in-app adjustments.  Garmin forced me to use other NON-Garmin Golf apps(i.e Awesome Golf) where setting elevation higher and weather conditions gets me very very VERY  close to my distances... (note, setting elevation higher and weather conditions in the "Garmin golf app" itself does NOT work for me).  That sucks, and no more home tee hero...    With that said, there is No way I'm investing in an R50.   Not for this kind of support.  Sorry Garmin, I like your stuff and really wish I felt differently.

Been a few months since my last posts..  Been using the R10 in a heated garage all winter in WI. with 3 friends.  It's been fun getting together to hit some shots and get the "golf night" feel of our summer league. It's made the winter go by much faster.   Been a blast...  and with all I said above,  the R10 did an okay job... But thank God for awesome golf as a lower cost alternative...  We would have loved to play Home tee hero and our local courses...  but the club distance issue was just too frustrating and no go...

With at least 10 sessions with the R10 this winter,  my opinion in all my posts to-date has not changed one bit.

There is a distance difference with  different clubs

wedges -> 9 Iron are about 10 yards short..   also the wedge shots have a lot of miss shots due to disconnects

    8 - 7. irons ~15 yards short

    6-4 Irons ~20 yards short

    5 -3 wood ~30 yards short

    1 wood ~40 yards short

That's seems to match or similar to the 100+ posts on this forum for R10 distance issues...

To the last poster,  All 3 of us are seeing similar distance issues.   But we all have about same swing speed ~95-100mph.
Check the swing speeds of others you are comparing with.  High swing speeds may show more accurate results?

The R10 is still being sold...  hope Garmin is not putting all resources on the R50, leaving the R10 to wither and wane...

Now I'm sounding like a broken record ;),  have a great day all !
