R10 Approach Connection Issues - Entering Standby Mode or Searching for Connection

Hello,
I am having a problem where my Garmin R10 Approach is not working correctly when in the golf sim apps. I can connect the device to my phone (LG V30) and within Garmin Golf app the device is visible (e.g. can see battery status etc.), however when I go into the driving range or home tee hero, the device blinks white, (indicating standby mode), sometimes blinks blue (indicated its searching to connect), and every now and then will flash green and work, but for only a few shots before reverting to standby mode, or searching to connect mode.
The unit worked fine for about 25 minutes of use when I initially received it and got it up and running, before reverting to standby mode in the middle of the driving range session, and subsequently has had the issues as described at the beginning of the question.
I have tried restarting the app, forgetting and re-adding the R10 device, reinstalling Garmin Golf app, restarting Bluetooth, however I am still experiencing this issue.
I have tried the device with my partners phone, and it appeared to work without issue.
Can anyone offer advice on how to resolve this issue?
Thanks

  • I've only had a brief 30 minutes with the device before it stopped working so have no real point of reference relative to past performance with the R10. That said now that its functioning, my 7 iron only going 130-140 is a kick in the teeth. So tend to agree with 6100999 - distance looks way off.

However, every shot since the update registered and directionally looked believable. I turned it off, confirmed no longer connected via BT, waited about 30 minutes turned on and every swing was recorded!

Thanks Eric for your great support today. And thanks to the Garmin engineers for getting this product back on track. I'm looking forward to continued improvements.

  • I only got a few swings in after the update, thought maybe I just wasn't loose after not swinging for awhile but distance was a huge question mark for me as well.

  • Hi,

Seems like 3.90 is working at least in my garden, out to the range this afternoon. Happy new year everybody and enjoy!!

  • 3.9 has fixed mine. Just played a round on Home Tee Heroes and was bloody fantastic. I'm so glad I didn't send it back for a new unit like Garmin told me to!

  • Hey Together,

just back from the driving range after I have done the update to 3.90.

All my problems were fixed with the update, driving range tracking as well as home tee hero are working well.

    It's a fantastic and flexible device ..... !!!

  • Back again, after experiencing distance issues after the first update I tried again today. Took a few swings on the range, distance looked great, switched to Hometee Hero and was noticing issues. My total distance is spot on; however, my carry distance is about 30 yards on every club, shot track shows the ball hitting the ground and then skip and run out 100+ yards. Hitting into a net, 8 feet from the net, device setup about 7 feet behind teeing area. Anyone else having this issue, Garmin has no idea?

  • Same issue here. Is finally tracking shots but shows loft very low and landing short for pretty much all of my shots. 5-driver are the worst and losing 30-40 yards of carry compared to the range.

  • I just realized my issue, I wasn't selecting the proper club. Ugh

  • After tweaking setup, going through all club selections on the range and playing a round on HomeTee Hero, I'm 2 clubs short on everything distance wise. Shot tracking is fixed though.
  • I thought mine was off also however I just got back from a Toptracer range and carry distance was spot on with their camera based system.  I now think I am not used to hitting indoors into a net. I hit the ball a lot more consistent at the range also.  I still have some nerves in my garage net hitting.  Only my 2nd time to do so.

    Thanks Garmin for update 3.9!
