Feature Request: Clubhead MPH without ball impact

Swing speed training is becoming commonplace, but owners of launch monitors must sometimes also buy a PRGR because they want swing speed measured without hitting balls with training sticks.

Could we have a 'swing training mode' where club head speed is measured without a ball being struck?

  • Thank you - that is at least good to know Slight smile

  • Garmin-Cody

There is no doubt that the R10 already sends club head speed, path direction and tempo without using a ball.

Those of us using GSPro can already get this info.

So it's more a question why Garmin Golf app does not present this?

Not accurate enough or something else?

  • Wish Garmin has taken this request positively; could have been a great value added feature.

R10 is only accurate for the distance. All the other aspects are, for me, about +/_ 30% off. After using this for about 3 years, I'm not finding R10 as valuable as ai thought it'd be.

  • Could I be added to this?

  • Any update on this?  Rapsodo just released an update for their devices for speed training. Hope we get one soon too....

  • yep saw this - I think I'll soon be selling the R10 for a MLM 2 Pro in the near future, Rapsodo seem much more on the ball with product support

  • Yes - this would be a great feature of the R10 as competing products have it.

  • With Rapsodo MLM2 having just updated the unit to include non-impact speed training (and the GC Quad Max also included it) and the growing (probably already fully grown) use of speed training programs (whether someone is using The Stack, Speed Sticks, Rypstick) it is terrible that Garmin R10 Approach does not have it. With Garmin being in the golf space, they have to have heard whispers that MLM2 was going to add it. So I wonder if Garmin created the R10 Approach as a big money grab to then re-invest the dollars into all their wearable products (there is always a new watch being released from Garmin). To have a hardware product that has not had a firmware or software update in over a year is horrible for a technology company. Usually when updates do not happen in that timeframe, the company usually has given up on the product.  So most likely they are not updating R10 anymore/ever and a new version/unit (hardware) is being developed. BUT they should definitely add non-impact speed training to this original version.

  • I would love to have this feature for speed training as well.

  • R-10/GSPro user here. If you are using the direct BT adaptor, you can see swing speed and tempo for non impact swings in the terminal window. Not very user friendly, but its there...
