Feature Request: Clubhead MPH without ball impact

Swing speed training is becoming commonplace, but owners of launch monitors must sometimes also buy a PRGR because they want swing speed measured without hitting balls with training sticks.

Could we have a 'swing training mode' where club head speed is measured without a ball being struck?

  • Swing without using a ball and see your club head speed. Let me know how that works out for you.

  • Hey Cody, is thousands and thousands of replies asking for this not enough for Garmin to see interest?

  • thousands and thousands of replies

It's not thousands and thousands of replies. Those are just views. As of now, counting my own post, I see 243 replies. That is still a lot though. I've requested this also using the Share Ideas form.

  • I would also very much like to see this feature added

  • This request has been forwarded for further review and consideration of potential future improvements to the Approach R10. The request has been seen, and at this time is there are not any changes to announce at this time....however if the feature does become available, it will be announced to users once available.

Hi Cody, thanks for the update. Could you please explain what this sentence means?

    Forgive me for not understanding.

  • This means that the feedback for those wanting this feature has been submitted, reviewed, and there has not been a determination as to whether this feature will be offered or not.

Updates with new features are typically not announced until it is actually available to users. Not every feature request submitted will result in the feature becoming available to users, so we can cannot provide any guarantee timeline on this request. Until any further announcements become available on this feature, the status of this feature is "Under review" until further notice.

  •  Based on what you said, nothing will be communicated to users until the next upgrade - which could be never. With over a year since the last firmware update, you can understand why I feel like the device is not being actively improved by Garmin, which is a real shame as I love the device, just frustrated at the lack of love it gets. (Don't get me started about the Garmin golf app...)

Bingo, doesn't seem too promising. Looks like a classic case of pump and dump for the R10 covid golf boom.

  • This is not the case. Any updates to firmware, software in the Garmin Golf app, and fixes will be released per the same processes that have resulted in changes being made to the R10 from it's initial release...as there is no discontinuation of this product, nor any changes as to how it will be supported going forward at this time.
