Feature Request: Clubhead MPH without ball impact

Swing speed training is becoming commonplace, but owners of launch monitors must sometimes also buy a PRGR because they want swing speed measured without hitting balls with training sticks.

Could we have a 'swing training mode' where club head speed is measured without a ball being struck?

  • Thank you for the information. Is there any update on this feature?

Despite the relative lack of traffic, I think this is still a heavily wished feature. Is there any amount of likes or comments that would more help the development team to see how desired the feature is?  I think most users have given up hope but maybe we can reactivate them.

Regardless, I love the R10, my Vivoactive watch, and cadence sensor, keep on inovating!

PS: Users who have read this far, login with your Garmin account, login and give this a like, maybe we can achieve something together here :).

  • Just a side note:

Cancelling hth (100 usd / year) and replace it with GSPRO (250 usd/year) would give You this feature (check my comments on GSPro threads).

OK, You are reducing the number of courses from 42.000 cartoon courses to approx 400 high quality courses, and You need a good PC. But since I started using GSPro I havent played hth, and will cancel it on next payment.

I believe this is the best wake up call to Garmin.

  • Just canceled too. Garmin had a huge opportunity with all the course data they have, but they are failing to do anything great with it. Small companies are able to capitalize, due to Garmin's lack of care for this software.

  • Cancelled here as well, wish the dev team at Garmin could have pushed this simple update but it's clear their priorities are elsewhere.

  • I cancelled during the free month trial last year after seeing the lack of customized options (which are available on Awesome Golf 7 & E6) when using HTH. Also having to reset my custom weather settings every time I start a new session & not being able to calibrate the R10 within a session (all requested last year). Along with some other issues that makes the Garmin Golf app not user friendly. I only have the R10. Not sure but it seems as if Garmin has tried to use one piece of software to accommodate the R10 & too many other devices (where one fix or feature add affects the other devices).

  • I can't believe it. I just bought the R10 for the Super Speed system, I'm in my backyard as we speak getting this setup and can't understand why clubhead speed wasn't tracking (without ball). How does this feature not exist yet, I feel like such a dickhead for buying this and telling everyone I'm about to start speed training! Worst yet, before this I bought the Swingcaddy S200, the one before the 200i. I need to get better at product research. I'm so guttered. Garmin figure it out already how is this even an issue?

  • Hi.

JLag currently released a video on this issue: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tyZBdoQR2vI

Pls be aware that You don't actually need GS Pro to do this, but You need a windows PC with Mholow GSPro connector installed.

The speed will also appear in that connector, and if You are somewhat good at computing it should be possible to output that info to a file and extract the speed automatically.

Even when using PRGR You need to make separate record of the reasults if You want to keep them for later.

I have not tried this as much as I would like, but I think I have less misreads than JLag in his video. Especially irons appears to work ok, but then again most are more interested in driver spped Slight smile

Bottom line is that You actually can do speed training without ball using the R10.

    Just don't ask Garmin..

  • Another user keen for this function, it seems like a relatively easy firmware upgrade.

  • The R10 already send club head speed, so no fw update needed. Garmin needs to use the info in the Garmin golf app, but for some reason they don't.
