R10 distances seem off.

Did Tantrumus say "We all got YouTubed into this unit being very accurate and worth $100 more than the Rapsodo or Mevo+" really the Mevo + is around $2000 not quite a apples to apples comparison. 

I have just rebuilt my set up to avoid concrete or metal objects (this was one of the troubleshooting suggestions from Garmin )

8feet to net and 6 feet from tee to r10.

Hit ten samples 5iron( 180-195) average on the course.

Not one of the ten was over 110 yards

I think there must be a dodgy batch of units or something as no regular golfer would find the numbers or strikes I am getting as acceptable.

I have contacted support with the intention of replacing the unit I will let you know how it goes.

I had a look at my setup again and my r10 was about 35mm under the ball its now around 20mm above my ball and to my surprise my distances and pretty much 100% accurate now.

Is that the bottom of the tripod or the bottom of the device itself?

My setup was the r10 was just on the floor, my golf mat is 35mm thick so thats got the ball sitting 35mm higher that the r10. I put a book under the r10 that was 55mm thick so basically the book is 20mm thicker than my mat and the results were amazing with just that slight change. Goes the exact same distance as the driving range and the same distance i get using the gc4 with my pro i get lessons with. So for me the r10 is bang on the money for distance. I have the r10 6ft from the ball and the balls 8ft from the hitting screen 

I actually found placing it at mat height made the accuracy worse. As mentioned before my 2 brothers are recording very accurate numbers and ball flight. I am not. But I have a massive over swing. Half shots seem to be bang on. 

Don't recall ever saying Mevo+.

I'm no pro and accept that not all my balls go advertised averages.

The problem here is that the defenders of the R10 that come in here assume we are complaining because EVERY shot is not perfect.

NO the advertised distances NEVER happen over hundreds of strikes.

I hit my 7I 140 to 150...all day at the range.

Over hundreds of balls I have yet to see a 150 7I in my garage.

INDOORS...All my use case is indoors.

Please accept the fact t that even double digit handicap golfers will get some good strikes in.

I usually get 48 to 50 over 9 on the course in real life.   About every 3rd shot for me is a good strike on average.

But not the R10.

They all suck.

Sorry but losing my patience with how people can't see there is a prob.

Don't get me started on long clubs like the driver.    My longest ever was 260 with R10.   But that is my best club in my bag in real life.   I'm 6ft 3" with a long swing.   I can manage 205 to 220 in my garage on well striked drives.    We are talking hundreds of strikes here....you think that there are no accidental bombs in the middle of the batch?   Please.

There is a reason the NORMAL Mevo (not saying Mevo+) I had offered an INDOOR mode.

Agree with your 3 points especially number 2  "sell or return their units while they're still going for over retail on eBay." For me I still have hopes Garmin will get it close in the future. If you don't think so then follow the statement above.

As a recent purchaser of this device I have been following all of the forum threads I could find for tips. The one over on Golfwrx recently had two posters report that while talking with Garmin support about distance issues they were told a Software update was coming by the end of October that would include a Self Calibration option aimed at fixing the indoor distance issues.

I didn't get this first hand but with two different posters saying the same thing it seemed worth adding here. 

If it is true it is a great sign that Garmin actually cares about getting this right.
