Why does G80 resort to a default distance of 34 meteres when clicking to place marker?

Garmin, could you please look into this and perhasp issue a change as its really cumbersome without any obvious reason.
The G30 handles the very same situation perfectly and actually place the marker where you click.

Example - clicking display to mark a position to check distances.

  • G80:
    Puts the marker at 34 metres distance from the hole even if you click close to tee on a Par 5.
    It also zooms in, so to even change this you have to press "Zoom out" and the click the desired position.
    It takes three clicks to mark that position.
  • G30:
    Instantly puts marker were you actually clicked.

    I can confirm and reproduce this behavior.

    Go to the preview mode.
    Select any golf course.
    Tap on the beginning of the fairway to see this distance (placing a marker).
    The marker is about 34 m to the flag, not at the beginning of the fairway.
    You have to tap again on the desired point and if necessary zoom out before.
    This is really annoying.
    Remove the marker and tap again on a point in the fairway.
    The result is the same (34 m to the flag).

    This should be fixed.

    After looking further into the report on this post, (if viewing a course from "Start New Round", not preview) the target when selecting the full map to open the touch target feature will default the target marker to the driver distance arc on the map...from what the user set driver distance to from the settings menu on the G80. 

    If using preview mode, the target marker will default to the very end of the hole because the driver distance arc is not present on the map layout in preview mode. After tapping the map for touch targeting preview, simply move the target marker around and you can preview distances to anywhere on the layout of the hole from the tee box selection to the adjustable target marker. 

    Keep in mind that the preview feature does not reflect viewing a course from the "Start New Round" course layout screen, as user info is not considered in preview mode. Tee box selections are also not available within the preview mode.
