Request: sort apps in ERA alphabetically

Once you have quite a few apps it's VERY inconvenient to look for a particular app when they are not sorted.  Please sort them.

It would also be awesome if there were a search bar so one can find an app by entering just a few characters.

Thx,

Pete

  • But again, my apps are sorted in the ERA, so clearly it's not like they just forgot to sort the apps in the ERA.

It's more like more like the apps are *supposed* to be sorted, but it's not working for you, for some unknown reason.

Just out of curiousity, if you sign into the connect iq store website and open the developer dashboard (https://apps.garmin.com/developer/dashboard), what is the default sort order for your apps (when the page loads and the sort criteria drop down has an "unspecified" value)?

For me, it's alphabetical. If it's not alphabetical for you and if the order matches what you see in the ERA Viewer, that might be a big clue.

I also think the idea of a search bar for the apps is a good idea. I would also like the ability to only display apps which actually have available ERA reports.

Honestly, a lot of things about the ERA Viewer are pretty user-unfriendly and archaic, including the file choosers, which are non-native on both Windows and MacOS. (Eclipse is a Java app, yet it's able to use the native file chooser in Windows.)

  • It’s a pain to sort manually.  I’ve got something like 40 apps.

It’s so easy for ERA to do.  Like 10 minutes max coding time .  If it were open source I’d gladly fix it !

Also, are you not able to sort the apps yourself by selecting Settings > Manage Apps?

I am not suggesting that you should have to do this, but it could be a workaround while you wait for this fix.

Just to circle back on this: the problem was on my end, I was using the wrong key Sweat smile

When I use the correct key, the ERA Viewer works on my 2nd computer
