Feature request: smart wake alarm depending on sleep cycle

Please could you looking into developing a native smart wake alarm just like FitBit has been doing since 2020.

The article below sums up the situation really well.

Sleep is so important for any sports enthusiast and in my opinion this is litterally the missing piece of the wellness / recovery puzzle in Garmin wearables.

  • This is so easy to implement.. and that would be such a useful function
especially with with the better sensor available on the fenix/epix.

     Here’s how it works:

    1. Sleep Monitoring: watches track your sleep stages throughout the night, including light sleep, deep sleep, and REM sleep, using a combination of heart

Smart Wake Function: The smart wake feature uses this sleep data to identify the best time to wake you up. You set a window of time in which you’d like to wake up (for example, between 6:00 AM and 6:30 AM), and the watch will attempt to wake you during a light sleep phase within this window. Waking up during light sleep, as opposed to deep or REM sleep, is generally easier and can help you feel more refreshed and alert upon waking.
Vibration Alarm: To make the waking process less intrusive, Garmin devices typically use a gentle vibration alarm. This is particularly beneficial as it can wake you quietly without disturbing anyone else nearby.

This functionality is part of a broader trend in wearable technology focusing on enhancing sleep quality and overall wellness. It reflects an understanding that the timing of when you wake up is just as important as how long you sleep. If you’re considering a Garmin watch for this feature, make sure to check the specific model for the availability of “smart wake” or similar sleep cycle alarm capabilities to ensure it meets your needs.

  • What's the problem with performing labor-intensive calculations within a range of +-2 hours from the alarm you've set?

  • I would be really interested if someone could share how Garmin develops software. Are they doing Scrum? Are there Product Owners? How are they gathering user feedback? Prioritize features? How old / modern is the code base really? ...

  • I even had another thread asking if there's any plans about this feature months ago( https://forums.garmin.com/outdoor-recreation/outdoor-recreation/f/fenix-7-series/352090/any-plans-for-smart-wake-alarm )

I got negative comments and negative points from (I don't know who the *** are they) some people just because I asked about that feature.
