Edge530 datafield ANT communication not work after the device restart

Hey!

I have a datafield which showing my external sensor`s data using ANT communication. It is flawlessly working on Edge 520/520plus since a year. 

If I set my datafield on Edge 530 and start it, it works perfectly. However if I restart the Edge and start the datafield it doesn`t communicate with my sensor, not showing any data. 

If I swap the datafield to another one, restart the device, swap back, and start it, it is working until I restart the device again.

I don`t know how to debug this problem. Is there anyone who met the same problem?  Is there a bug in my program or in Edge 530?

  • I have a Garmin 245 user reporting the same issue as eronb is reporting on the Tyrewiz.  This seems a bit different than the Edge x30 problem originally reported on this thread.  On the 245, the Data Field connects with the Moxy sensor (via generic ANT) immediately after it is installed, but then it would not connect again after the activity was exited.  Then it did connect again when then watch was powered down and powered back up.  Let me know if more details are needed.

  • After a hard reset i've found a pattern. I need to restart the watch before it can connect to the Tyrewiz. After the activity stops and I disconnect it wont reconnect until a restart again. I have plenty of other ANT+ connections going on (HRM-TRI, etap, Bontrager lights, favero assioma power) but all of those are directly connected to the watch where as the tyrewiz connection is via the DF.

    I can't find any logs, but am happy to work with Garmin to help investigate as I imagine not many people actually have a Tyrewiz..

  • Thanks for bringing up that there is an issue on the 945 as well. Are you seeing the same behavior as on the edge devices, where it is working, but then fails after device restart?

    I tried to run a DF with ant sensor data, but it never received data regardless of restarting the device or not.

    Either way, It is reported to the 945 team, but I would like to let them know more specifics, especially if the behavior as the same as the edge devices.

  • Oh I see, thank you!  However I need a real firmware update because I can't ask every customers to upload the beta firmware. :(
