Connect IQ Store > Search results > Sort by: Most relevant

I'm searching for apps using Sort by: 'Most relevant', and apps with the actual search words in the app title are appearing way down the list.

Apps with the search term in the app name should take preference over those with just the words in the app description. I'm sure it used to be this way, has the recent app store maintenance changed it?

  • It looks like this is now fixed. Thanks Garmin and Merry Christmas!

  • So terrible. How long did you wait till the reponse from admin?

  • Results are still not good. I've just gone through 15 pages of results and still not seen my app (or any other apps with the search terms in the app title).

I've emailed [email protected], I'll report back if I hear anything.

  • I dont see a higher weight for the title. For example if I search for "yoga" or "yoga time" hardly any (or even none) of the first pages of results contain those words in the title. I've gone through 5 pages of results and not seen Yoga Time yet, when I know there's at least a couple of apps and a watch face with "Yoga Time" in the title. I'm sure it didnt used to work like this a few months back...

  • According to my experience it does give the title a higher weight. The real problem IMHO is that it does search for each word in the phrase and it  doesn't "merge" the results in a logical way. For example you search for "foo", you get F results in a certain order. Your app is in place F1. Then you search for "bar", you get B results in a certain order and your app is in place B1. Now when you search for "foo bar" then you'll get some kind of merge as the result, probably with M results, where M is between F and B (because some apps, as yours appear in both result sets). The problem is that even though your app might have the exact phrase "foo bar" in it (either in the description or the title) it doesn't put it higher in the results.

In fact it is so bad, that it is more or less impossible to use multi-word search phrases, because you get so much "junk". For example: "heart rate sensor" will result in thousands of watchfaces, apps, etc that have "heart" in their description, and even though none of them has "rate" or "sensor" in the text they might appear above your app that not only has all 3 words, but even in the exact order.
