Update 2015-09-15

Have started to upload V2 of the 367Bike and RunFields to the App store.
367BikeFields is Live.
367RunFields is Live

The new version adds TimerTime, also adds the seconds on the timer once you reach > 1hr. (I'm told that seeing seconds is especially important for runners)

Note for all : Please refer to the app store for the latest in the NEW direction the app/datafield is going.
Go PRO! GO UnLimited!!

  • TOD (Time Of Day)
  • Timer Time
  • Pace 10s / Current Speed (in KM or Miles)
  • Cad
  • HR
  • Dist (either Miles or KM)
  • Avg Pace / Avg Speed

Many Thanks to SimonMcMullen for his code guidance.
Many Thanks to TORSTEINVH for his guidance on how to make an moving average (tho it's still a hack and not pretty code)

    Hi,

Just wondering is it possible to replace the PACE 10s to Time to 5KM? I am trying to find a all in one data field with, timer, cadance, distance, heart rate, and time to 5k data fields. Thanks.

Currently Datafields are NOT user configurable.
  • For those trying to get the second row of data on the VA, just pick another row and add the same data field...It will add a second set of data.
  • I'm inclined to remove support for the VA. People are leaving bad reviews and not posting here.
Additionally , is it me or somehow based on what I've read in the forums - majority of the low rate reviews are coming from VA users.

No, no no...please don't. Garmin should have provided this to great that you have. Thanks and I just added a positive review. I use the VA. Only had it a week. So far so good and your data just made it way more useable.

Thanks! Saw your review... You asking about "Would be nice if we had a black with white text version also"

I guess perhaps this should be a user defined setting. (I'm not sure if the colour scheme / background colour) is user configurable (as in system wide).
If it is, perhaps can be done.

In terms of "using less battery" - this i have no way of knowing. Anyways - when I go out and run / bike, i always use the white background rather than the invert (black BG, white FG text). It's easier to see (to me)

Smart watches and phones tend to use less power with dark screens. More white/light colors require more power (black is just "off")...although on the VA screen it is passive, so I am not sure of this holds true.

The screen technology used on our current devices does have slightly higher power consumption for white pixels, but the screen itself is such a miniscule element of the power profile, it has absolutely no impact on the total power consumption for ConnectIQ apps.

If I recall correctly, the difference almost makes it out of the noise on the native watch face implementations, that run entirely out of the display controller.

Many thanks, I dreamed of that sort of datafield (the old habits from looking at the phone screen)!

I have some question and suggestions of improvement (fenix 3, 7 fields):

Q1: I have heard that built-in Garmin instant pace it is in a fact 12s moving average. Is it true? If so, there is no sense replacing it by 10s average. I think that instant pace is crucial for many runners and Garmin will definitely improve it in future.

IMP1: To display the HR with zone color, eg orange. (Change the number color or background color or add colored heart icon - I'm not sure which looks better)
IMP2: To display the CADENCE with "zone" color, according to Garmin table.
IMP3: Two versions of 367. For training and for the official race. For the official race many competitors does not use HRM strap (guess why :) ) and turn the autopause off. So for training Timer would be better than Time elapsed, and for the race Time elapsed id definitelly better than Timer.
For the race (or simply for watches without HRM strap) HR and Caddence could be replaced with other stats, maybe pace 120s moving average or 1km moving average (don't have idea for the second one - you picked already what id need).
