Watchface: SoF - UTC

Just submitted a variant of my Steps on Face watchface with the original name SoF - UTC. There were requests to also display UTC on the main face.

Hope people enjoy.

If you like it, you can buy me a beer - IPAs preferred ;)

  • oups... doesn't work with newfounland time... they got 2h30 with UTC... for exemple, when it's 1942 local it show 2172 UTC
  • Thanks for the post - I will take a look and see what is going on.

  • I'd love to put this on my Epix if you could find the time.
  • Major Code Rewrite

    Version 2.0

Major code rewrite - added support for multiple devices - F3, D2, Epix, Forerunner and Vivoactive
For the square watches the battery percentage is shown in the upper left corner - no bar
Please let me know if the language translations are not correct - google is not infallible

I only have the Fenix 3 to test with, so please if you have another platform and have problems, let me know and I can work on them.

I have also added support for French, German and Spanish. I can add other languages easily but will need to know how the date is displayed.

    Please provide any feedback.

    Thanks,

    Paul

    Chose time zone

I like the face, but don't have much use for GMT. Could you create a face and allow the user to chose the bottom time zone?
  • the next major revision will be when the next version of the SDK is released. When that happens, there will be the ability for the owner of the watch to have settings for the watch face available. When that happens, my plan is that the lower time will be user selectable.

Hopefully this will happen in September/October.

  • UTC minutes off by 1

    Paul,

I've seen one recurring issue since upgrading to the latest version of SoF-UTC. It seems that whenever the device is in low power state, the reported UTC time is always a minute behind. When the device exits low power state via gesture or button press, the face does update and the minutes match up, but when the device re-enters low power the error re-appears after about a minute and half. Have not seen this with other dual-time reporting ConnectIQ faces or with the default display on the D2 Bravo (which does shows UTC in addition to local - unlike the Fenix 3.)

Any idea what might be causing this?

    -Charlie

  • Interesting issue - I have to see if there is some way that one field could be updated and then the watch go into low power mode.

I will look a the code to see if there is a way I can closely tie the two functions together.

Thanks for pointing out the issue.

  • Update to ETA for configurable T2?

Hi SITM. Love the face. Any update to when the 'UTC' field might be user selectable? I'm on UTC (for now, in UK) trying to align with Head Office based in Denver... Thanks, LB
  • Got to get back to it

    SITM - I like it.

I have been planning a re-write now that user configuration is possible. Life has got in the way. It is on the list for the next month or so. My plan is to have the second timezone user selectable and if you are in the US you can set for daylight savings time to be updated automatically.

If there are any other enhancements people want, let me know.
