  • What garmin watch you are using? I would like to simulate with that to see if there is difference to my Fenix 3.

I am making seconds bigger and crisper in next release 1.4 as well as date. User selectable font colours are included as well for minute and hour :)

Next release 1.4 will have system font for date, seconds and steps

I tried to "Biggify" time font, but that caused problems in testing with some devices (part of the number missing). Maybe I need to create another version with just BIG font for some specific devices, BTW what is yours garmin device?

thanks for all of your efforts and quick revisions. i like the efficient use of the top and bottom now with the smaller step font with progress bar. the system font is also much cleaner and i think the icons look better now "center justified" in the vertical.

echoing prior comments: until Garmin opens up the "always on" second hand/digits, i think there is a lot of wasted space for most of the watch's usefulness. i'd love to see a very large HH:MM (again, much like WF4COOL -- which is nice, but i like your cleaner implementation of the alarm/notifications/battery) that uses the entire space between the date and steps progress bar.

one wild idea for the seconds if you think they are important: would it be hard to have the seconds use the "steps/progress bar area" when in high powered mode (and not show steps) for the ten seconds and then once that is over, the steps/progress bar returns?

again, thanks for your hard work. i've been longing to find a "large font" time watch that still conveys all the useful information. yours and WF4COOL are very close to what i want, so i hope you don't mind me injecting my wishlist. :)

    i'm using a Forerunner 935.

Tried 5x and font is really smaller:

I need to do fix for this. I can detect device model and choose bigger font automatically for 5x

Good news! I made version only for you. Will be released after testing:

    Version 1.42
    - Bigger hour and minute font for Fenix 5x (Request by brookes2622), seconds moved lower.

I could make seconds user configurable (on/off) and font could be then bigger, or then make just new version totally where seconds are left out and whole watch face designed accordingly. New version is better performance vice (too many if's and elses otherwice in code). I could make that especially for you and according to your comments and see that it really suits Forerunner 935.

First I need some answers from you:
    1. Watch face name?
    2. Elements to be included in watch face (hour, minute, move/stepbar? icons? battery bar? etc)
    3. Font type and colors
    3. Where all elements should be located

I will then make version based on that and we can continue tweaks and adjustments then based on your comments.

    Meanwhile try version 1.41

    Or version 1.42

    Version 1.42

  • wow! you work fast! thanks for your hard work!

    other thoughts...

    - glad to see all the horizontal space used up and a larger HH/MM. yet,i stand by my "seconds" assertion. if you remove that you could go with both a taller version of the font, but again you are the designer and i'm the end user...

    - back to my earlier suggestion about seconds being used to replace steps temporarily: how about changing the "steps count" to the "seconds" during the 10 seconds of high powered mode? in which case, you could make the steps count font slightly bigger so that the HH MM is more centered vertically on the screen.

    - for some reason, i think the spacing on the digits for HH MM look a bit off. i wish i had concrete suggestion, but it seems that maybe (just maybe) the hours digits (HH) should be closer together and so should the minutes digits, so there is slightly more space between the hours and minutes? sorry if this is vague, but maybe it's just me being used to the WF4COOL spacing of th

    - odd bug (but not a show stopper... just something you should be aware of): when the watch face is updated/installed on my watch, the initial screen has an invisible hours digits. the only way to fix this is for me to change the color to something other than white, and then back to white before it shows up. it appears that maybe its using black as the default hours digits even though the setting in the Connect app says its white?

again, keep up the great work!

No problem! That above mentioned bug is now fixed in version 1.43:

    Bug fix:
-Initial hour colour was black, changed to white (Thanks derek87 for letting me know this bug!)

What comes to other points, as stated/suggested few messages above already:

  • thanks for your responsiveness to the community's (and my!) needs...

    first, another small bug:
    - after leaving high power mode (with the seconds ticking away), the seconds stop updating, and then shift up a little (closer to the minute) and doesn't erase itself.

to answer your questions (and we can take it to private message and email hereafter for my personal wish list, unless others have strong feelings too...)

    - for simplicity (and i don't know what it does for memory footprint or performance), it would probably suit a lot of people (well, at least me and the other person who mentioned it), to have the seconds on/off in the configuration and if off, then the extra space be used to accommodate an even larger font/HHMM.

but i totally appreciate your desire to make a low memory footprint, high performance watch face. it's hard line between satisfying individual preferences and customization, and performance/memory usage.

i'll send you a personal message of my "dreamed up" face and if you see fit to give it a whirl, great. but i also don't want you to feel pressured into doing this for just me. i may just have some particular taste/stylistic preferences. just wish i head time to get the SDK properly installed (i do a lot of structured programming in my line of work, but not typically java stuff so i couldn't get Eclipse properly working with the java path so i gave up on it a while back)

thanks again for your hard work! i appreciate it and i'm sure others do too!

Hmm, this I could not reproduce in simulator or with my watch. Maybe uninstall and install again?

    Version 1.44 is out:

    End user feature requests/suggestions:
User can disable seconds via settings page (Request by derek87 and Ekim_the_wise)
  • you are right, the seconds shifting problem went away on a re-install. (i think this is the same problem referred to by the other reviewer on the Connect IQ site)
  • First I need some answers from you:
    1. Watch face name?
    2. Elements to be included in watch face (hour, minute, move/stepbar? icons? battery bar? etc)
    3. Font type and colors

@Jan_72 you have done well the font on the 5x is larger now and works well. As does the colour change and the turning off the seconds. I will answer some of your questions:

    • Stick with v.Simple Watch Face (VSWF) because that's what it is and what we want.
    • The items you have a fine I would only add HR as an option perhaps.
    • Likin the bigger font. Date and step count a bit larger would be good
    • I think your locations are good but see my comment below about the time

I have only one suggestion now and that is the location of the time. At the moment it sits in the top right corner, so to speak. I am thinking it is there to leave space for the seconds and when the time has 4 numbers. Would be good if you could centre it in the available space both horizontally and vertically (using the seconds space if they are turned off).
