WatchFace : Carbon

Introducing the Carbon watchface
Version 1.6.1

Carbon has been specifically designed for the FR 920XT, but will work on the vivoactive and epix. This design extends the carbon look of the FR 920XT and has a clean, easy to read layout. The app can be downloaded here.

Well I have not been happy with the performance of this watch face. This really disappoints me because I really like the design and the aesthetics of it. I have had my Vivoactive for about 2 weeks now. I have had this watch face for roughly 5 days. These are the problems that I have with it. Please note that the first item may not be a problem perhaps you designed it this way but there was no mention of this in the description.

1. My step goal is set at 11000 steps when I reach that goal (which has been 4 out of the 5 days) a fireworks display goes off to show that I achieved my goal and then the watch face disappears and reverts back to the basic digital one that is standard on the device.

2. after achieving my step goal I no longer receive notifications on the device

3. the one time that I did not reach my goal the Carbon watch face did not disappear but after midnight it went to a 24 hour format when I have selected a 12 hour. It seems to correct itself somehow at 1PM.

It is important to me to be able to see the battery life bar because I use the GPS alot because I cycle. That is why I chose this watch face. It is simple but shows the battery life and has a pop of color. Please fix the bugs and I will switch back to your watch face in a heartbeat.

Thanks

For the point 1 & 2 I think it is not related to the WatchFace but to the new Firmware 2.80, this because I had the same effect with a different WatchFace but, in the same way, after the visualization of the Firewarks the watch revert to the standard and the notification does not works. To restore a good notification condition I have rebooted the AV, after that the VA raise again the notification.

This sounds weird. I don't see this with the va on 2.80 and my own CIQ watchfaces. Have you created the ciq_log.txt and <appname>.txt files in apps/logs? Do they show anything?

I'm testing the beta of Widget Battery Gauge and after the visualization of the fireworks I was not able to visualize again the widget (on the display was present only IQ icon and in overlap a yellow circle with ! inside).
I don't have checked the presence of the log (I don't have with me the usb cable for the moment), as soon as possible I check the log.
• You have to create empty files in apps/logs for the info to be saved. The CIQ Icon with the ! means that there was a crash of the code.

Yes, now I have created the empty file in the apps/logs folder.
The crash happen after the visualization of the Fireworks, and after that also the notification does not works.
I have seen also in the root a log file (ERR_LOG.TXT). I don't know if this is related to the firmware or for others reason/apps.
• ERR_LOG.txt is usually when the FW crashes (which might be a result of a CIQ app crash) Having the files in apps/logs will probably help ID what happened.

Ok, thanks for the explanation. Now, with the new beta, after the visualization of the fireworks I don't have seen any problem.
• "Step progress bar moves up and changes colour as you work towards your goal (0-33 = Red; 34 – 89 = Yellow; 90 = Green)"

Wonder whether it would be possible to have a change to indicate how far through the day you are (based on current time) and whether you are ahead of target for the day so far or not compared to the time of day.
(eg
being 50% finished by 10am is ahead of target.
being 50% finished by 10pm is behind target)

This could be by using a calculation to determine how far through the day we are (say between 7am and 10pm) and then the bar color coding based on whether steps% is ahead/behind or within say 5% of this moving target.)

Another way this could be indicated would be with a subtle moving indicator beside the Steps bar - just something subtle like a "<" or "-" that progresses with the time of day so we can see how what we have done so far measures up compared to the passage of time.

I'm a previous user of Breeze IOS app (by runkeeper) and while they used a circular dial sort of thing one of the things I liked was the little white "pip" that gave a quick comparison between "steps today" and the passage of time. see http://www1.pcmag.com/media/images/424380-breeze-app.jpg?thumb=y for an example
• BT icon status would be really helpful
