Watchface: M2

This is the support thread for the M2 watchface:

has created a Facebook group for designs here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/423319952037948

And this PDF files contains a quick visual index to the designs posted in this thread: >>>    ForumProfiles1.pdf    <<<

To create your own design or modify one, install & use the M2 Designer app on your watch. These are the steps you would go through:

  • Optionally paste a text code into the "Profile Text" setting of M2 Designer & save the settings, or load one of your previously saved designs (either via the settings or the in-app menu).
  • Run the M2 Designer app (found underneath your activities list) and create your design.
  • Once you've finished, open the Garmin settings for M2 Designer.
  • The text code in "Profile Text" will now represent whatever your design looks like, so copy the text code from "Profile Text" - and be careful to select the whole text.
  • Close the settings for M2 Designer.
  • Open the Garmin settings for M2 (watchface) instead.
  • Delete any text that was already in "Profile Text" - this step helps to avoid potential problems
  • Paste the text code into "Profile Text".
  • Save the settings.
  • Now when you view the M2 watchface it will show your changes.

A guide for accessing the Garmin settings is here: https://forums.garmin.com/developer/connect-iq/w/wiki/14/changing-your-app-settings-in-garmin-express-gcm-ciq-mobile-store.

  • Looks cool Slight smile

I've been trying to think of how to fit in more of the features that everyone has requested (like moon phases & weather!)

Looking at the latest CIQ version (4) then that seems to have some great options for saving memory, thus allowing more memory for watchface features, and it would open up a lot of extra possibilities. So I may look at making a new version of M2 just for CIQ 4. The only trouble though is it's only fully available on Venu 2, Fenix 7 and Epix 2. So far anyway ...

  • Cool! Don't forget tide - please?

  • Yep tides is on the list too Slight smile

  • Hi,

I’m not sure my question is relevant…

Will the System 5, which is rolling out on several models (including my Enduro luckily), allow some new cool functionality for a next version of the M2 watch face?

    Best

  • Hey everyone!

First of all I'd like to say that I love the app and the customisability it brings to us ordinary users, but I'm having an issue with the face that stops me from actually usung it :(.

Every time I set the face as my watch face, it crashes after like 10 seconds. Watch face customization does not seem to matter as I've tried several from this forum as well as the default M2 one, with the same outcome every time.

I have the Fénix7 sapphire solar watch.

Is there anyone with similiar experience or better yet, with a solution by any chance?

    Thanks!

  • Hi !

I've just uploaded a new version (0.2.4) which hopefully fixes the Fenix 7 problem Slight smile

A few people had reported it previously, but I had no idea what it was ... your description gave me some ideas though, and I think I tracked it down, so thanks!

There may still be some other hidden problems on Fenix 7 as the API has changed in some areas compared to previous devices, and the implications are not entirely clear.

  • Hello!

Even though the Garmin IQ didn't wan't to admit the new version has been uploaded, looking it up via web browser did the trick and after trying it out I can confirm that the issue has been fixed, yay!

Thank you so much, you really are the best! How can I support you other than rating you, please? (like, how can I "buy you a beer" or something? :))

  • Hehe it's just good to know it works - thanks for the update Slight smile

Now see if it keeps working!

  • Hi, there is the “minutes to next sun event” and “minutes to next dusk/down”, but can you add also time to next in hh:mm Format. Now it shows only 130 minutes, would be nice to have it displayed as 2:10. Cheers, Zheko

  • Nice suggestion and would look better ... I just tried it in my version and unfortunately the change bumps the memory over the allowed limit. So I can't add it Disappointed Will remember it for future though.
