Watchface: M2

This is the support thread for the M2 watchface:

has created a Facebook group for designs here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/423319952037948

And this PDF files contains a quick visual index to the designs posted in this thread: >>>    ForumProfiles1.pdf    <<<

To create your own design or modify one, install & use the M2 Designer app on your watch. These are the steps you would go through:

  • Optionally paste a text code into the "Profile Text" setting of M2 Designer & save the settings, or load one of your previously saved designs (either via the settings or the in-app menu).
  • Run the M2 Designer app (found underneath your activities list) and create your design.
  • Once you've finished, open the Garmin settings for M2 Designer.
  • The text code in "Profile Text" will now represent whatever your design looks like, so copy the text code from "Profile Text" - and be careful to select the whole text.
  • Close the settings for M2 Designer.
  • Open the Garmin settings for M2 (watchface) instead.
  • Delete any text that was already in "Profile Text" - this step helps to avoid potential problems
  • Paste the text code into "Profile Text".
  • Save the settings.
  • Now when you view the M2 watchface it will show your changes.

A guide for accessing the Garmin settings is here: https://forums.garmin.com/developer/connect-iq/w/wiki/14/changing-your-app-settings-in-garmin-express-gcm-ciq-mobile-store.

  • You can use the Rect field type (for Rectangle) to create any lines you want if you change the width/height to be 1 or 2 pixels (or create any size of rectangles you want!).

In the "Quick Add" menu there should also be "horizontal line" and "vertical line" to maybe save a bit of time.

  • This is my latest layout. Thank you for the great work.

  • I built this watchface from somebody elses results ...

It's training load and total calories above (training load must be of the current day only, right?)

Date and weekday balow, and battery % of course ...

    Here's the code:

    01Ys2525111WDPO1031WwWO020VcE3QJ121VbE1WwVt035C13NC13X7C11WwXl04G173WnJ13NJ14Q1Ve3VmJ1PdLVzVqVqVdVd1WwWw01WwQ04H0R3VaC13UF11WwWw0

Are there any plans to make the body battery value available?

  •  Nice one Slight smile

For body battery: unfortunately this value is not available to CIQ watchfaces. If Garmin change this then I will definitely add it!

For training load: the official Garmin value for training load is not available either. So I've implemented a custom solution based on what I read about the Luceo and Actiface watchfaces. But my version has probably ended up very different! And I'm not entirely sure how well it is working currently - so any feedback you have would be useful. What it aims to do is this:

    • It is based off your active calories for each day
    • A weighted average of active calories per day over the last week is calculated, with more recent days having more weight, and the oldest day having very little weight
    • This is compared to a similar weighted average but over the last 8 weeks

A value of 100 (%) should show that your training load is staying steady. Above 100 it is increasing, and below 100 it is decreasing. Note that it can take a while for the long term average to settle down (I might try a way to improve this)

Although looking at the code, I can see an error in the last week calculation, so I'm just going to fix that and upload a new version …Edit: on 2nd look the code is fine, just I need to learn how to use a calculator ...

  • Here is a profile from Ahmet Mese, thanks!

I think the bottom 2 values are sunrise & sunset times, and there is a seconds indicator on glance gesture.

  • I have made some miner changed. I have a Taxtics Charlie, so I tried  to make military looking face. Sorry I cant upload pics. From top to buttom; garmin logo, military DTG, day, day #, time, sunrise, battery, sunset, 2 stars. Seconds appear on gesture as white and red triangles.

  • Thanks for the explanation on the training load, now i know how to interpret the number!

It's a pity that body battery is not available, but it's not essential anyway (just nice to have)
I made a few further changes to the color scheme to better fit the wristband, now only two colors used (white and cyan, sometimes less is more ;o) and seconds always visible (on gesture before).

    Code:

I guess im starting to get used to M2 Designer (the excel with the menu listings is helping a lot by the way ...) thanks for developing this tool, my fantasy is already running wild about possible watchfaces []-)

  • Cyan is one of my favorite colors on the Garmins - a lot of the blues seem to work really well on the displays.

And just noting that the training load value should be fine in the current version (I made a mistake earlier when I was checking the code Slight smile) - so if you have any feedback on the values it gives you please send them my way!

Glad to know I'm not the only one.  Thank you again for the effort on the Excel sheet.
