Watchface: CountDown 2 Event

This is a watchface showing a countdown timer towards a specific event in the future.
Together with the countdown, it displays the time, date and battery strength in %.
Support for 12/24 hour with am/pm indicator for 12 hour format.

When the event starts, it removes the timer and displays a message that the event has started.
As soon as the event finishes, it display a proper message telling you that the event is over.

Currently the start and end dates of an event is hard coded for each app.
After an event has finished, the app will be updated in the app store to display the countdown for the next annual event.
Users will then have to update the app from the store.

Currently the following marathons are supported:

Comrades Marathon 2015
Berlin Marathon 2015
Chicago Marathon 2015
Frankfurt Marathon 2015
New York Marathon 2015
Tokyo Marathon 2016

  • Hi HERMOT
I am a student in china, and I really love your watchfaces of countdown series, which are the best watchface in the garmin apps site.
But could you please make a watchface counting down the Beijing Marathon, or please send me the codes of fenix3, to let me put it in myself.
My Email is :[email protected], or [email protected]
To send or not, you are always the best.
    THX a lot,best wishes

    Thanks for the kind words.

Unfortunately I will be holding on to the source for a while longer to see what improvements Garmin make to the SDK in the near future.

Stay in touch and follow me on Twitter for future updates: @hermoter

I'd love to help, but due to restricted time and multiple requests I have decided to stop making any further countdown watchfaces until Garmin releases an SDK that will enable me to make 1 single generic watchface that you as a user can configure yourself and reuse for various events of your choice.

I only support the existing countdown faces created before a certain date.

Thanks for the interest and support though, and be sure to check back here for any news!

  • HERMOT, I like the idea of adding the logo to your watch faces, definitely a nice commemorative touch. I do wish the user could choose to remove the Bluetooth and Battery indicator though. With the fenix, the battery last pretty long and I don't find myself really worrying about it's drain, and I always know Bluetooth is connected or not by the consistent notifications when I go in and out of range. Just a personal preference, I know, but hoping Garmin will make some improvements to the SDK to allow for user configuration. Thanks again.

Very good feedback indeed! I support you and also hope that this will be noted by Garmin.
Thanks for your invaluable interest and support!

I'd love to get some feedback and have people test these watch faces.
Also I need confirmation on start times of each marathon.

Some of the marathon sites are not very clear about start times and maximum time to finish the race.

    Any help will be appreciated.

Just read you're not making any more countdown watch faces. What a bummer!!! I was really hoping I would see the Marine Corps Marathon countdown up.
I sure hope Garmin makes those SDK improvements!
That's what happens when you make a good "product"... people want more.

The ability for "user config" should start to be available for developers sometime in Sept., per Garmin. After testing, configurable stuff will start showing up for end users.

As it happens, Hermot already states that provided enough incentive - he would be willing to make that change.

When user configuration becomes available - I view that as opportunity for HERMOT to offer pro level plans.
