Widgets and Icons

Maybe this is something I've missed, or maybe this is a feature request!

With CIQ widgets (I only have seen the vivoactive so have no idea with other devices), when you swipe to them, you always see the "IQ" icon. If you only have one widget loaded, this might not be an issue.

But if you have more than one, as you swipe through, it's the same icon for all of them, and easy to stop on the wrong one. Is there something that can be set in a widget so a proper icon is displayed?

Using an icon would make it easier for end users, IMHO...

My experience from user feedback, was that the vivoactive would left justify an icon that was not 61px wide. I believe you should create an icon of the correct dimensions if you want it centered correctly.
  • In fact, I was just working on an app icon for the va, that was 40x40, and it did left justify. It was quite obvious when I saw it on the device.

I misunderstood the bug report. There is in fact a small bug in the resource compiler. A change is under review to fix the issue. In the future app icons will be centered by adding transparency to the edges so you shouldn't have to worry about adding spacing yourself although warning will be printed if the resource compiler adds spacing.
  • Now back to the first post of this thread. Any update on how soon the widgets on a VA will show more than the IQ icon? The App_launcher icon and/or appname?

I currently have 5 CIQ widgets on my va, and it is a bit of a pain!

This is a device change so I can't really speak to when it would be ready. There is an issue filed to implement this for vivoactive. I've been told it's already implemented on fenix 3 but I haven't had a chance to verify that.
