Multi language support on Vivoactive 3 (FW 3.30)

Hey all together,
I would add multi language strings to my watchface. So I have created some folders with language name resources-xxx and place the resource files into that folders with the same string-id's.
In simulator all strings succsessfully loaded, but not on the watch. I check this also with the sample 'strings' in connect-SDK. No language strings are loaded if I change language on the watch, only english is showing up. Unfortunetaly I have no test it on previous firmware versions.
If this also a known issue on Vivoactive 3?
best regards

  • Hi Hermo.

I have the same problem with my new VA3. All apps show English, while I set the language to Dutch. Menus are Dutch too. Can I solve this now or do I have to wait for version 3.50?

    best regards, Kees
  • Hi Kees,

The issue has been reported. Unfortunately there is no guarantees as to when it will be fixed.

But yes, as long as you have the language set before the next firmware upgrade, the issue will resolve itself, providing you don't switch back to English as it will then be locked onto Dutch.

Also no idea how long before a new update :(
  • Hi Hermo.

I received an update for my VA3 3.50, but the language problem still exist. Do you have the same?

    best regards, Kees
  • cjm007 The issue is still there and hasn't been fixed.
But, I do know that since most users on va3 will have the correct language set on their devices before updating firmware, the app will still load the correct language resource for the user.
But if a user then try to switch to a different language, it will still load the resource for the language before he tried to switch. This should happen very seldom and only in rare scenarios like this will a user not have the correct language resource loaded.

Although it makes testing impossible for us, I am not too bothered with this bug. I have proof that the correct language resources are loaded for users with different languages, provided that they had the language set on their devices prior to updating firmware.
