Temperature recording is completely independent of data field selection. If your device is paired to a Tempe sensor (in the Sensor settings) and that sensor is available, temperature data should be recorded. Otherwise it would not be recorded.
On a 920, you can't pair the tempe as a standard system sensor, so you won't get temperature data recorded in the .fit file.
On devices that do support it as a standard sensor, the temperature data will be recorded with standard apps (I believe for CIQ watch-apps, it will depend if the app has enabled the Tempe)
