store is down again?

I uploaded my beta app 3 times (only changed the version) in the past 2 hours and still don't see any of them...

  • Hi Brandon - are you able to try a file of siilar size ( maybe dump some big pictures or video in Rez folder? I think that is the issue but I don't have access to my normal coding PC, only the travel one which only has that IQ file that I'm trying to upload still. The GIFs were not big at all.

I have two monkey motion files about 10 seconds at max quality, and made the app for all 3.2 watches hence the size?

I have tried VPN, no VPN, physically sending from two different countries ( I'm travelling at the moment ), using 2 different PC's with in private browsing on and off.

It just seems whatever it is doing when I click submit, is not finishing or not being started for some reason or both, which leads me to think this is a size issue, however I'm not sure if it uploaded or not ( no change in the developer tab - it's not there. )

Is there or has there ever been a max size for uploads.... or a time limit for the upload , or a virus scan or something to complete within?

  • Also - I don't know if this helps the diagnosis either, but I re-named a .png to .iq and tried uploading that, and it throws an error that the IQ file is not a zip..... So..... I don't think it's my PC.  I then tried turning VPN, virus scan and advanced threat detection no change beta on, beta off..... always at about 23 seconds after clicking submit it gives the error messge.

  • Just got kicked to the site maintenance page while trying to update my beta app this morning.  Would be lovely if you saw this page BEFORE you uploaded the app.  Oh well, why am i updating apps when i could be out riding bikes anyhow i suppose...

    We’re sorry.

The ConnectIQ store is currently not available due to planned maintenance.

  • That is really strange. This message really should be displayed on each page when logged in as a developer

  • This is my beta app: https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/8cfc5bd9-0835-4522-b3a0-fd3dfbfc58d2
Eventually after more than 4 hours I did see my uploaded versions in Android Connect IQ.

However I'd like to point out something regarding your test "my uploads and updates are reflected immediately": there is one thing that I can reproduce at least 75% of the time. When I upload a new beta version, and that is the 1st time I upload that day, it usually appears in the Connect IQ app within 2 minutes. HOWEVER when I upload another version (lets say I tested, saw a problem, fixed it and 10-15 minutes later I upload it) it USUALLY doesn't show up. When I started to develop CIQ this was very frustrating (it still is obviously!) and sometimes I had to retry and wait for hours or until the next day to be able to test the newly uploaded version. Later I was told on the forum about this trick: upload it again and again with different version number, and it'll appear. And it does work.

Now I'm not being paid by Garmin so I don't want to waste even more time on this, so I'm not doing a controlled test with a controll group (controll app). It is possible that the feeling that uploading the same app with different versions is not what makes it work, but rather it's a coincidence and every time I upload the newer version enough time passes that even by not uploading it would work. However I doubt that this is the case because sometimes after uploading the "2nd version of the day" a few more times I'll see the 2nd version in the app (even though I already uploaded another version or even more than one version since) and sometimes the version I'll eventually see in the app is the last one I uploaded.

So without being able to confirm the feeling tells me that there is some kind of eventually consistent database being used, and when I upload a version it somehow is stored on 1 node but not on the other nodes, and by uploading more times I statistically have more chance that I uploaded it to the same node that the Connect IQ app is looking at.

  • the "up to 2 hours" is for production (non beta) apps only, I hope! There I can understand that Garmin has some (probably semi-manual) approval. However PLEASE remove that from beta apps (if there is such a thing)! Beta apps should be available to the developer in the Connect IQ store ASAP. It's enough annoying that we have to do these uploads to be able to test settings related changes, please don't make it worse by also making us wait!

  • I've never problem with updating and have new version on watch in minute.

  • Have you tried within the last 3 days? I normally have no probelms at all also.

I've nearly tried everying, renaming version number ( 8 times ), renaming the upload file, vpn off, on, in private browzing on / off, virus scan on /  off........ always the same. 23 seconds after hitting submit, website unavailable. I think*** it's  a size issue, I'm going to modify the app tomorrow to make a smaller version to confirm.

  • probably problem is with synchronisation to iq store, check it on beta version

    - web browsers

    - put new version

    - you will see yellow info, press F5/refresh until it disappeare

    - press download button IN WEB BROWSER NOT IN IQ STORE MOBILE

    - new version on watch

and after few hours you will see in mobile store info that you have new version even you have installed it - this is the problem they have probably 2 different systems one for mobile one for other and synchronisation is needed

  • I have tried new version, and beta version. It makes no difference. When I click UPLOAD, the next screen I see is website is not available, after around 23 seconds.

The developer tab, does not show my new app as uploaded......... ever. I have tried now over 20 times, different version numbers, different PC's, Beta, Virus on / off, in private on / off......... It must be the file size.
