How can I show more detailed information regarding "Error: System Error Details: Failed loading application" error message in the simulator

Thanks Jim! That could be the problem, my data field allocates ~25k. Thanks for the quick answer. Will look at it some more later on, maybe I can slim it down a little. 

Tested to change the memoryLimit to 32768 in compiler.json and then the simulation started and worked as it should. So, memory limit problem is now confirmed. I'm unsure if I can slim down my data field to 16k but I will give it a try later on. Otherwise I need to remove all devices with 16k from the device list.

Chancing things in compiler.json isn't something you want to do.  It's too easy to forget to change it back. Try using a target with 28/32k instead to see where you are at memory wise.

No problem, I made a copy of the file before changing. Then reverted to original file after confirming the problem.

There are some more models with only 16k memory for the data fields. All models with 16k limit what I've found:

• Fenix 3 / Tactix Bravo / Quatix 2
• Forerunner 230

• Forerunner 920XT

Yes.  All CIQ 1 devices.

With CIQ 2 and above, what tiy see in the device configs isn't really what's available to a DF.  It's always 4k less than what you see.  So 32k is in reality 28k  The VM takes the missing 4k.

Thanks for your information! I read about the 4k VM usage in another thread so I must think about that too. Maybe the 32k devices can be a problem for me also later on. I must try to reduce the memory usage for the data field.

Do you know if there is some kind of info about tips to reduce the memory usage? I have a lot of commented code and also comments in the code but they shouldn't be included in the compiled data field I think. Do you know?

There are a number of threads here about optimizing memory usage going back years.
