Midnight: 0:00 or 12:00?

Hi,

I need help in establishing the correct way to display midnight in both 12 or 24 format:

Currently I display 0:00 in both the 12 and 24 hour formats.
A user gave me feedback and requested to have the 0:00 as 12:00 in the 12 hour format, i.e. 12:00am as opposed to 0:00 am.

So what should midnight time be for

12 hour format:

24 hour format:

Regards,

H
  • I see, that's good reason. But on the other side I already have a little overcrowded screen and there is no enough space for a/p :) so I had to make a compromise.. I suppose the time in a menu has this indicator (and I hope that Fenix3 has time in manu as well as 920XT :) ).

On some I use "a" or "p", but also do other variations. For example, on my analog face, the dot where the hands come together (the center) changes from filled to an outline based on am/pm in 12hr mode. (it's always filled in 24hr mode)
  • Interesting discussion.

As for myself I like to see the am pm stuff. But not because my whole life is a batchelor party :)

It is just something I am used to seeing on watches and expect it to be there.

But this is just a personal preference ;)
  • am/pm indicates that this is 12h format. Important for us, who use 24h. We know then, that we have to change settings ;)
Probably not a problem for GPS, but on a simple clock, it is necessary to set time or alarm correctly.

    That is a valid point!
Never thought about setting an alarm.
