Guitar tuner PRG

Hi all,

As a player myself, I would find it handy to have the ability on the watch....I can always tune a guitar.....but need the right key, with a tuner or an app its much easier......I would love this on my wrist in the form of a widget or app.

Implementation ideas
::::::::::::::::::
You could have the sound processor emit six notes, with a corresponding screen image of the note key.( design ideas?)
could be expanded to other string instruments in the future.
Standard tuning defines the string pitches as E, A, D, G, B, and E, from lowest (low E2) to highest (high E4).

fenix 5x.

Thanks for reading,
All the best,
Sam.
  • Decided to publish it so that settings can actually be changed (meaning another tone/key can be selected). Once approved it should be available here:

    https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/de46bbc9-b9f1-4272-9f3f-20ccc15abe07
  • That's great news!
I look forward to seeing it in the store!
I'll give you some feedback as soon as I am able.
Thanks very much for doing this, I really appreciate it.
    :--)
Can't wait to "show off" in front of a couple of guitar playing friends lol. :--)
  • My pleasure, was already thinking of something like this in the past but when I saw you could only play preset tones I forgot about it. Didn't think of checking if they happened to match a note :)

It's been approved by the way, so please try it once you can and let me know if/how it works for you!
  • I will do :--)

The 5x will be with me by the end of day tomorrow via UPS..... :--)
  • flipstone. Time for a showcase thread! :)
  • Can confirm its in the store!
    :--)
  • Haha, waiting for at least confirmation that the note is (notes are) ok but sure... will make a showcase thread soon ;)
  • Ok I've set the new watch up, and I've tested the new PRG.
I've found the key tones, are not matching the screen symbols at the moment.......but the widget is fully running on my 5x v8.0 with zero crashes or IQ screens......a very stable PRG :--)
I think I have this right ( fingers crossed) so here goes....

    Tests:::::::::::
B symbol is actually sounding A
A symbol is sounding between G and A ( semitone low)
    G symbol is sounding G
    F# symbol is sounding F

So just the rearranging of the symbols to do.
The good thing is we have an A available so we dont have to use a fret :--)
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks again
    all the best,
    Sam.

Thanks for the feedback! Weird, let me check (I hope the tones are the same for all watches, checked a few and seemed to be the case but who knows... perhaps I was wrong there)

I think I noticed one tone was off for sure (must re-check which one) but the others, meh... Gonna re-check ;)
  • Yes you could be right......the sound maybe ever so slightly different pitched between watches.....
User's would need a calibrate option like " choose your own note symbol.
It is hard to get right though......I had to recheck myself multiple times lol...

Btw... I've used your app to tune a guitar, and it worked like a charm. :--)
