Well, thats about covers it. I really would like to have an native app for XC skiing. And also for MTB and indoor workout, but those I can cope without. Skiing - not. Please, please please make one for me - and all the other skiiers

Problem with the SDK is that while XC is a valid activity type, once uploaded to GC, it don't map to others but to uncategorised. The closest one to XC would be skiing.

Not a bad app, but lack of ability to configure the display or utilize additional data such as average HR or setting up intervals is a a bummer. Plus, at my age it's pretty tough to read those small digits on the display.
I purchased this watch thinking there would be an app marketplace for additional customization. Pretty disappointed with Garmin right now.

That's a nice app, but the lack of ability to customize the fields defeats the purpose. Plus you can't differentiate classic or skate, nor does it appear you can set custom intervals.
Here's the two of the best nordic skiers in the world, you'd think Garmin could develop an app for their watches.
what do you mean u can't customize the fields? You get like 4 data screens, up to 7fields per screen, 20+ fields you can choose from to set for each of those fields.
First you say u don't need anything fancy then you come out with statements that you need skate / classic and intervals.
