Lactate Threshold

I recently made an Lactate Test on the treadmill and compared it to the values on my Fenix 3. Now i am confused beacause my real lactate threshold (The moment the lactet starts to rise but still gets metabolized to stay on a quite low level (steady state) ) is on about 146 beats per Minutes. And my individual anaerobic threshold (The moment the lactate rises and does not get metabolized any more) is on 170 beats per minutes. One can say the lactate threshold is 70-80% heartrate of the individual anaerobic threshold.

But my Fenix shows me a lactate threshold on about 176 beats per minutes what would mean my individual anaerobic threshold is on about 210 :)))

Does Garmin mean by lactate threshold the individual anaerobic threshold ? Then it would match quite well with the real lactate test.
  • first of all, all Garmin and the other brands do is an estimation based on your HR, weight, age, VO2max an gender and should be considered as a simple guideline. For more specific data you've got to be monitored while performing and blood samples need to be taken. That's what you did and that's what i would take more serious.

Ok, back to your question. According to the user manual Garmin says that the LT accours - depending on the experience of the runner - at approx 90% of the HRmax.
