Why doesn't Garmin Explore in my browser show the detailed track of my InReach as it does in my iOS Explore app?

Hi all,

When I look at tracks in a collection on Garmin Explore web, it only shows straight lines connecting the points sent by my InReach Mini 2 on the day I was walking.

On the iOS Explore app, it shows the detailed tracking (which I enabled on the device) which is what I want to see for exporting purposes, on Garmin Explore web.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks a ton,

Marcell

  • What you see in Explore app is the activity that is recorded locally on the Mini 2 and then synced with Garmin Explore. On web you see the tracking points sent via inReach.

You should be able to see the activity in Explore web in the Activities folder after syncing the Mini 2 with Explore app.

    See https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=bHHxYUy5b550KiUUP1LXb9 for more info.

  • Thanks for the reply.
The Mini 2 was synced with the Explore app on my phone everyday - I just thought this automatically transfers to the Explore web?

That first pic with the straight lines is from the Activities folder on Explore web.

  • It also exports with those straight lines :(

  • The recorded activity should indeed be synced with the Explore web site.

In the app screenshot I see that the activity is in a separate collection? Are you syncing all collections via the Explore app? And do you have the collection visible in Explore web?

  • oh my word! haha such a noob error - I didn't have that collection visible. Literally the only thing I didn't check.

Thanks for the time. Really appreciated.

  • No worries, it happens!

  • Hi Guys,

Please let me hitchhiking this thread.

I have two distinct situations that I don't find an answer for:

    1) Tracks are not showed at Explore Web but are normally at Explore iOS.

    2) Courses are showed as supposed to be with all points and at the same time as straight lines as if they were "routes" at Explore Web but are showed normally at Explore iOS.

    Appreciate any help.

  • Explore web unfortunately does not highlight the selected Course, so in the screenshot you provided it is difficult to see what Course is actually selected in Explore web. One way to find out would be to add the Course to a new collection, and only show this collection in Explore web.

As for the track, that is strange. Explore web should highlight a selected track on move the map to display that track, so what happens if you switch between the tracks in your library?

  • add the Course to a new collection, and only show this collection in Explore web.

    No change...

what happens if you switch between the tracks in your library?

It changes the map to the track region but do not show the track

Please, what should this icon do? in my case it has no effect at all.

Unfortunately GEW does not allow me to change the language to English so I guess the translation would be : "Alternate map view to the collection".

But as I've said it has no effect at all...

    Thank you,

  • The eye icon allows you to hide or show items. It works best from the highest level that shows library and collections. There you can hide all items in your library or collections, or hide types of data (tracks, courses, etc) and collections individually.

I noticed that if you toggle the setting at the place you show in your screenshot, it has no effect. So you need to go one level up in your library and toggle from there.

So make sure the eye icons are set as you would expect them. See Showing and Hiding Items on the Garmin Explore Website for more details.
