I can no longer import Courses from Connect

When I try to import Courses (from Connect into Explore Web version). I get "An Error Occurred". This worked previously, but now does not. Any thoughts? Also, around the same time, i'm noticing that my Instinct is no longer uploading my activities to Explore IOS... but I am still getting my activities properly in the Connect iOS app.

  • Just ran into this. This is utterly terrible. Garmin makes some nice products and some nice hardware but when you get into the weeds you find ... weeds. Like everyone else I don't know why connect vs explore whatever, but yeah I'm in explore with the fancy hiking map checking out the area where I hiked yesterday. I want to see my hike from yesterday (garmin fenix 6 captured) so I managed to find the import courses thing. It shows me all of my strava-generated bicycling courses which aren't what I want.

    So I switch to the other app and turn my previous hike into a course. Now when I go back through the steps in explore I get "an error occurred"

    Apparently I've now lost the functionality that worked before?? And instead I get a useless non-specific error indicating a 6+ month old bug?

    Garmin: get it together, tear down the silos, make your products work together as one seamlessly.

    I know your business model is making a thousands different things for everyone, but can you ingest a bit of the simplicity and unity flavoraid from the competition?

    WHEN I hike with my garmin watch and use your damn cloud: just have it show up or be accessible in explore. What's the point of a cloud if it doesn't do things?

  • Add me in too!! I have the same error "An Error Occurred " while trying to import my courses.

  • It's happening to me now.  I used to have no issue to import course from Connect to Explore.  On Explore, Map>Import Data>Import Courses, then it used to show courses from my Connect.  Last time I was able to import was on Sep 7.  

    I tried to import yesterday, but I keep getting "An error occurred" .  I tried again today no success.

    I tried on both Chrome and Edge.  I always use https://www.plotaroute.com/ to create my course and import GPX files to Connect.

    I am able to send those courses from Connect to my watch (Fenix3) , I can also add to my Explore App (android)'s collection.  So I don't think my GPX data is corrupted.


    Please let me know what to do to solve this issue.
