How do I transfer directly from an Android device to a Garmin device?

Hello everyone,
I'd like to transfer directly from my S23 Ultra to a Garmin device like Oregon, GPSmap, etc., without using Connect or Explore. You need to be connected, and I'd like to be able to do a "direct" transfer.
Does anyone have a solution and/or an app to recommend?
Just by trying it with my Drivecam 76 or my Tactix, the S23U recognizes them fine and they switch to "computer" mode, but none of the apps I've tried want to read the Garmin's internal memory or micro SD card.
Thanks for your feedback.

  • You will only be able to transfer data between a Garmin handheld and your compatible smartphone by using a compatible Garmin app.

  • Hello, thank you for this reply.
I've seen a few tips, but most of them no longer work. I thought there had been updates and that I could do without the Garmin apps, which I would like to be able to use even without a network connection.

  • Hello everyone,
I'm answering my own question. After doing some research, I found "Winlator," which allows you to create a Windows emulator on an Android device. I tested it, and it's pretty good. This time, my Garmin devices are recognized correctly on my S23U via the USB-C port.
There are some settings to adjust to adapt the window to the screen size, but it's quite simple, and all connected devices are recognized.
I used a USB-C to USB-A adapter and the cable for my Tactix watch, and there were no problems. I'll look into ordering an Oregon or another model. They'll withstand high temperatures better than my S23U, which stopped working just when I needed it...

  • Nice idea with Winlator! But what's the advantage compared to using the Android Explore App?

  • This is in the case where you don't have an internet connection, a cord is enough between the two devices, and I find the Garmin applications too complicated to manage, I liked Earthmate for Inreach, but Garmin always likes to add and add and it becomes too complicated to use,
but to manage my Drivecam 76, the application that has been modified is very simple if you want to add a file, at least that's a positive point

  • For transferring routes, Garmin Explore also doesn't need an internet connection. But I also like your idea, because it would even allow to transfer maps and music

  • I didn't know about Explore. I thought you also needed a connection for Explore, like for Connect, but I've already tried it with my Tactix and I had some problems, so I'll pass...
Direct transfer, like from a PC, is the best...in my opinion...
