Dive name and notes wiped out when cellular connection is found

I’ve just come back from a 7 day trip to Revillagigedo and had no cell reception. After each dive, I named it and added notes about the dive. When I got back to cell reception, all of the notes were totally gone and the titles had changed over to whatever Garmin felt best based on GPS. Am I missing something I need to enable to keep my edits? Or is this a feature request to maintain and user made edits when cellular reception is restored?

  • I think you need to request such feature.
As far as I know, Garmin saves your activities with default name and only after save you can change name or add notes.

  • I had the same issue during a livaboard vacation last November in Egypt. We had sporadically a (bad/slow) Internet connection or none at all.

Sometimes I lost, like you, all my recent dive edits (they got replaced with "Garmin defaults", deleting all manual entries). A few hours later they reappeared though. This happened a few times.

During times where the dive edits disappeared, I dared not to edit any dives. In the end, I think I did not loose any edits, but I don't know what would have happened if I had started to rewrite recent dives, or started editing the new ones during these times.

The strange thing is, that I lost in later syncs edits again (from the current trip only), which I had lost before and got back (and therefore these edits must have been synced before to Garmin servers successfully).

There seems to be a bug/problem in the Garmin Dive syncing process when having bad or infrequent Internet connection.

I have not contacted Garmin Support regarding this issue yet.
