Access Denied Error Message

Anyone else getting the following when trying to go to Garmin Connect?

Access Denied

You don't have permission to access "connect.garmin.com/.../" on this server.
Reference #18.3db107ca.1423965681.26043d8f

All these issues that keep occurring is getting pretty frustrating.
  • That's a different issue to the Access Denied problem though which this thread is about. I'm not that keen on Connect either.

My apologies for being unclear. All five of the riders had the same ACCESS DENIED issue however with varying degrees of regularity. In one case, to be fair, it wasn't frequent but it was often enough to sour the users experience away from the site. The simple fact of the matter is that Garmin advertises and markets the hardware and software as a package. What good is collecting data [which is what the device does] if one can't access it [the web site]?

Interesting story by the way, when I called support today, the help person actually told me to use Strava. Interesting that an employee would steer a user to a different site. Yes, I know the two web sites "communicate" with one another but I can't help but wonder if this is a good business model.
  • I'm a refugee over from Fitbit. Their heart rate accuracy and calorie counting are atrocious on their Surge and ChargeHR products.

The moderators on their forums gave the same reply: "This is really only happening to a FEW people."

Turns out, much like "Access Denied" and other problems with Connect, the problems proved to be quite widespread.

I think that the number of people who seek out forums and post is a very, very small percentage vs. the number of people who simply declare a product as horrible and don't bother complaining or trying to seek satisfaction publicly.

Both these companies really need to get their act together. Apple Watch ships in a month, and it connects to BT heart rate straps. They will probably go through some learning curves, but history has not been kind to their direct competitors. I guarantee that their web and apps will work correctly, at least.

I'm also getting the access denied error message for the last two days trying to download FIT files.

If connect would actually sync with Swim.com it wouldn't be an issue, but it isn't doing it - only downloading every couple of workouts - so I've disconnected it and trying to download the workouts from the site manually.

I also need to download the workouts manually to fix them considering the inaccuracy of the Garmin Swim... and Garmin making no effort to allow the user to manually correct the files.

Very disappointing service and product so far.
  • Not been able to get in for about three days now. Getting seriously hacked off with this.

My wife and I constantly get the access denied message. I tried troubleshooting it just to make sure it was Garmin and not me. It happens with 4 different browsers. It happens on MacOS and Windows 7. It happens through the FiOS broadband service and it happens when I connect to the internet through an AT&T MiFi. The disappointing thing is that after a hard workout I want to see the data. I don't want to wait hours until Garmin Connect is up again.

I notice within several other discussion groups an actual Garmin employee responds to various issues and concerns. Does anyone have a clue as to how we can get their attention on this "ACCESS DENIED issue? Thanks!
  • You could try pm'ing the SME that posts the stickies at the top of the Connect forum and draw his attention to this thread.

Thanks so much Shane. As of this writing I have had no issues for the past hour which is the longest I have been able to use the site in a very long time. I hope that everyone else who has posted within this FORUM is up and running as well. It's really nice to be able to see my data once again so now it's time to go out and RIDE! All the best to all!
