All these issues that keep occurring is getting pretty frustrating.
  • Your best bet to get this issue resolved is to contact Product Support by phone. This only affects a small number of users and Product Support can remotely access your PC to try to determine the problem on your PC.
  • I have contacted Garmin numerous times. The are nice, polite, helpful and totally unable to solve this issue for me. I have be informed on several occasions that engineering will "get back to me," but thus far nothing has happened. I've had this problem for several months and it is really frustrating. I really like Garmin products [been using them for many years] but this situation is tainting my view of the company. This is the ONLY web site that I use on a regular basis that has this issue. I keep thinking where would Amazon or even Facebook be if this problem appeared. If anyone at Garmin reads this - Please let us know you are working on a remedy.

    Cheers.
  • Well as only a few are experiencing it the likelihood is that it's not an issue at the Garmin end or we'd all be getting it. There is a Microsoft help page here

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/gp/access-denied

which may help you resolve your issue.

    That page won't help anyone.

SUSSAMB, if you want we can set up a Google Hangout and reproduce the issue on your machine.

ksnewman, one reason why Garmin is so slow to fix this issue is that they are using Akamai to host their services. It could be that engineering is not aware of how widespread the issue is because the errors are occurring on the edge network servers and aren't getting escalated internally properly.
  • Thanks for you thoughts. So, does anyone have any ideas to to REALLY bring this to Garmin's attention? It seems that more people are reporting this issue and when I spoke with the Garmin support people they told me that they we "aware" of the issue. At this point I barely can get into my account and I am on the verge of getting rid of my three different Garmin devices. What good is collating health data if I can't have reliable access to it? I assumed that since Garmin set up this "chat" room they would monitor the postings. Guess I was wrong. So sad.

Yep. That message is generated by one of their Akamai servers:

    nslookup 172.229.216.169
    Server: 10.0.3.1
    Address: 10.0.3.1#53

    Non-authoritative answer:
    169.216.229.172.in-addr.arpa name = a172-229-216-169.deploy.static.akamaitechnologies.com.
  • Here's a video of the error (and how to reproduce it yourself.) Also is some analysis, although for some reason my audio cuts out and becomes tough to hear halfway through. You can see that the IP address giving the error is from Garmin's CDN provider, Akamai.

Garmin support will try to convince you that it's your computer, your network, your browser, etc. etc. etc. Unless you have a sufficient background, it will be hard to refute them, but rest assured: this error has nothing to do with the customer's system, network, or setup.

I deliberately brought on the condition, but keep in mind that many of us stumble on the lockout behavior through perfectly normal actions. . . after all, it's how we discovered the issue in the first place.

  • Well I tried following your video and couldn't force my system to get the Access denied error ... everything worked as I expected it to.

Yes, it is obvious that this problem only effects certain users of Garmin Connect. However, a rough count shows that about twenty people have found this particular Forum and, of course, this only represents a fraction of the users who have encounter this problem. I sincerely wonder what the purpose of this Garmin FORUM site is. I see that the moderator is not employed by Garmin and that makes me wonder if anyone in any technical capacity from the company reads these posts. The situation is rather simple:

1] Some users have the ACCESS DENIED issue when with their accounts
2] Some users do not have this problem
3] GARMIN, for whatever reason, does not reach out to help the user ["client"] that are plagued with this problem

I have numerous Garmin devices and, after years of satisfied usage, I am thinking about switching gear. I find this a pity and again, if AMAZON or FACEBOOK had this issue would they respond in the same manner as Garmin? I really find this situation hard to understand.
