New Garmin Connect format not so good...

I suspect to modernise it, hence the new name. It's gone the Windows 8 route ...

Having said that much of the 'behind the scenes' is the same and once you're used to it it works perfectly well. There is some info here for new users:

Also, the "classic" version didn't do step tracking. Modern came out at about the same time as the vivofit, as that was garmin's first step tracker.

And the step tracking is now used by the vivofit, vivosmart, FR 15, FR920xt, vivoactive, Fenix 3 (and I might have forgotten one!)

I can understand why Garmin have done it - just a pity that existing features have been broken in the process and are only gradually being fixed

I would think one of the reasons people are interested in collecting their data is so they can look at it over time. Reports are totally broken.
