Connect does not update yesterdays data

Former Member
Former Member
I use Forerunner 15 (2.40), Garmin Express 3.2.29.0 (recently updated), and Garmin Connect (Firefox) on Windows 7.

Since Saturday (I think) when Forerunner updated its software via express, it does not report yesterdays results
with sync to connect.
The info on Forerunner is still there though. Have not had this problem before.

Whats going on? Bug in the software? Some mistake in my setup somewhere? Any workarounds?

I'm having the exact same problem, and checked the files as someone suggested.
Like many others, I had several files per day until 31 Jan (even though I only synch once a day) and then just the one for February.

At the moment I'm able to synch every day, but I did a test earlier this week, not synch one day and then see if it uploaded both Wed and Thu data, but it left Wed blank.

In a few weeks I'm going to be away from a computer for a week, and I'd really like to keep tracking my steps and activity, being able to upload everything when I return.
I do hope they manage to fix it soon :(
  • I have a .fit file timestamped at 00:00 for everyday until I had 50 files - then no more.

I currently have 129 files, and none of them have a timestamp of 00:00 - but the times do appear to be the time that I did a sync. Just plugged in, and the file for today now has a time stamp of a minute ago.

I'm on Win 8.1, in case that makes a difference.

I had, maybe, about a hundred files. The last one was from Jan 31 when I made the update to 2.40.
Since then no new .FIT file. Also none has timestamp midnight. Seems the files are created at sync and contain
info since the last sync. Somehow (not saying I get this) todays data are always transfered correctly but the .FIT
file contains the info from last sync until midnight the previous day? And if they - for some reason - can't be
created the info is never transfered.

Anyway, now after I erased a bunch of old files and run sync I get a new .FIT with present date and time ...
But that does not mean that all data for previous days now gets transmitted ...

Exact same problem with FR15 no data syncing since 1/31. These things are way too expensive as it is. Get on it, Garmin. Do. Your. JOB!!
  • In reading this thread, it sounds like at least a couple people have opened tickets with garmin support on this. If you did, could you post your ticket numbers? That way others can reference those tickets and add their own info. (if they get a bunch of problem reports referencing the same problem, it might speed up a fix) It also doesn't hurt to include a link to this thread in your problem report to say "see what a bunch of people are saying about this"

This is a user-to-user forum, and sometimes Garmin folks don't see problems reported here.

I tried to sync today, like I do every day, and for some reason it only shows me Wednesday. I tried syncing several more times, restarted my computer, and even tried taking the usb out and put back in again. Nothing works. What's going on???

I'm missing today's and Tuesday. They are in my watch but won't show up on the site. They don't show up as 0 in the challenge groups either. It's like for me those days don't exist.

I did speak with garmin support yesterday - they suggested the master reset Reference ID: 3981203 if you are looking Garmin. This would remove everything from the watch including your records so instead I went for an intermediate option ...

I have deleted all .FIT files in Activity and Monitor folders. Reset the watch (hold the power(/light) button for 15 seconds) - turn it back on. If just comes on you didn't do it long enough try again - you need it to look for GPS to set time when you turmn it on. I have then tested it by recording a minute activity twice and a few steps and reconnected it several times to the computer. My watch is now creating and keeping .FIT files in both activity and monitor folders. There was a moment where the step data on line was messed up but that has righted its self after a few minutes. The step data back to the start of the month is gone forever.

I suspect the midnight file will appear in Monitor folder tonight if I move a bit and don't sync close to midnight ... I will have to wait and see.

If someone else cares to try this it will probably work for you but as I am effectively black box testing your results may vary. The master RESET I was sent would probably work too but clear more history from the watch and your settings, may be Garmin sync would put it back I have no idea.

Garmin still need to find the bug and fix it as this will no doubt return at some point as it seems they all went wrong at the end of January after which you recorded no activities at all (the file is created and delted) and step data is only recorded on-line if you update before the end of day and any subsequent steps on that day are "lost" too unless you sync again. Each time you sync a new file is created and the previous is deleted so that there was only ever 1 file in February in the Monitor folder.

The daily step data was kept on the watch but not uploaded - it would be nice if Garmin allowed us to correct the on line data for the incorrect data recorded by their buggy software.

Resetting the watch everytime the bug shows up is not a solution

Agree. Was optimistic yesterday that erasing files would help but turns out it didn't. Very inconsistent behavior of the FR15.

It now seems to - again - have a problem creating these .FIT files.
I also checked on the PC in C:\ProgramData\Garmin\Express\GARMIN\MONITOR
This directory is empty. At some point during an attempted sync I saw some new filename blinking up a couple of times and then vanishing again.
Whatever ... I will try your suggestion and see ...

And yes: Garmin still need to find the bug and fix it!!
  • Update: When syncing the vivofit with Blue tooth, today's sync that included lots of steps from yesterday showed up correctly in both the mobile app and the GC website. I'm repeating the test today but will only use Ant+ and GE.

Tested again using only Ant+ with the vivofit, and it too worked fine. So the vivofit doesn't seem to have the same problem.
