MyFitnessPal Sync Issues

Any Updates on this issue? It seems like the updates have been few and far between. The updates we have received have been very vague as far as giving any firm estimates on resolution time. Its been since Dec 4th and still crickets. I am honestly considering purchasing another band as this was an important part of my original purchasing decision on the Vivosmart. I know you guys are aware of how fast word of mouth travels in todays electronic age. I have already started recommending other competitors to my peers as it seems that these bands have a myriad of issue with bluetooth, syncing to Garmin Connect, & communicating with 3rd party apps like myfitnesspal.

Here is a great post on the Myfitnesspal forums detailing the issues and what they are doing to correct it. http://myfitnesspal.desk.com/customer/portal/articles/1815287-garmin-issues-syncing-duplicates-linking---january-5-2015
In compairson here is your post on the issue. https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?184661-MyFitnessPal-Sync-Issues
So please just tell us what your doing to resolve this issue on your end or if we should move on. We grown ups and can take it. Just come clean already & give us the "real" dirt.

Just an update guys, My GC app and MFP are now syncing calories almost instantly! could this be it!!!! finally get some decent use out of my Vivosmart - Adam
  • I have been having a weird issue the last 3 days and I do not know if it has to do with this. Every time I exercise with Runtastic, Garmin decides that I need to deduct more than a thousand kilojoules from my daily intake on MFP than I just burnt up.
*You've earned -1,142 extra kilojoules from exercise today
*You've earned -1,025 extra kilojoules from exercise today
*You've earned -1,690 extra kilojoules from exercise today

on each of these days I rode a bike for 1.2 - 2 hours and did one hour strength training in the gym. And I lose Kilojoules for doing this.......
And now despite moderate intake I am getting fatter each of these days...

My Garmin Connect still does not sync with MFP. It is hard enough to log every bite I eat. I just need this to work!

Hmm, seems to be working for me. Have you tried to manually synch it?

There was a week or 3 that there were issues, and during that time MFP was also having issues with Withings, Bodymedia, Fitbit, and others (per the MFP forums). It's been working fine with me the last week or so, and if not, doing a manual sync has updated things.
  • Are you using a step tracker? Have you seen a difference between calories burnt when comparing MFP adjustment to the numbers Garmin Connect? Perhaps only when you have also done an activity on Garmin Connect the same day?
  • Just had confirmation from Garmin support via email that this issue:

    https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?188882-Mismatch-between-calories-on-Garmin-Connect-and-MFP-adjustment

...is a known issue and being worked on.

I quote "Please be advised that we are aware of the issue with Garmin Connect and the designated teams are working to resolve it as soon as possible."

So essentially while syncing between MFP and Garmin is up and running, the steps calorie adjustment sent to MFP is not to be trusted :-(

I think I will delete the adjustments in MFP and enter manual walking activities to get the correct number, which I assume is the one given - the calorie disparity.

I changed my time setting from 12hr to 24hr in garmin connect and now my data is syncing. I think the difference in time settings was keeping the two apps from talking.

Can you explain how you did that? I don't see that option anywhere in my GC App.
  • Mine previously synced just fine, but when the 12/18/14 issue struck, I took the advice of someone on one this forum and "unconnected" the two apps, thinking that reconnecting would get it working again.

Well, now I can't reconnect MFP to GC anymore. The link on MFP just takes me to the "status" page on GC. It's beyond frustrating that it has been going on this long like this.
