Edit Multisport activities

Former Member
Former Member
Hi,

I tried the search function but could not find anything to resolve my problem..

I have done a triathlon on the weekend and uploaded it to Garmin Connect. I really like that it now shows u as a single event and not as 5 individual activities as before (swim, bike, run and 2 transitions).

My problem is however that I cannot edit the workout. Like so many times I forgot to press lap after the triathlon and now my total time is way too long. I tried to use the edit function and just change the time (how I can do it with normal activities) but my changes are not being saved.

I am not sure if that's a bug, was done by intention or I simply make a mistake but does anyone have a solution on this?

Any help is really welcome!

Thanks

I was also at Wildflower using my Garmin for the first time. I'm surprised at how difficult it is to make small edits to these files!

I think I hit the lap button while stripping my wetsuit, so that bumped me into my run while I will still in my swim>run transition. Therefore my T1, Run 1, T2, and Bike times are off.

I even tried downloading the demo version of the Fit File Repair tool but can't figure out how to work it. Can someone help me 1) edit this file or 2) tell me how to do it myself in the Tool?

My actual times should be approximately:
    Race start: 09:20:00 AM
    Swim: 00:34:48
    T1: 00:03:19
    Run1: 00:20:21
    T2: 00:01:41
    Bike: 01:26:14
    T3: 00:01:34
    Run2: 00:39:43
    Overall time: 03:09:47

    Thanks for the help!

    Operator Error

    Don,

Greetings and good evening. I messed up. I think I bumped the start button instead of the lap button leaving T1. The first couple miles of the bike are crazy looking on the map, I dont have a T1, and my Garmin time is about 8 minutes slower than my race time. I appreciate your help kindly!

    Regards,

    Thomas

    Hello,
I completed my first Wildflower Triathlon yesterday but I forgot to press the lap button after my first transition. Here's where it gets complicated. It's a swim-run-bike-run course but they listed the runs together and I think they combined the first two transitions into one. I tried to use the Fit File Repair Tool but I'm not sure how to add sessions. I could split the sessions if I could see the GPS data graphically but I didn't find anything that could do that. Can any one help me?

    Swim: 00:50:46
    Transition: 00:10:25
    Bike: 04:24:35
    Transition: 00:03:18
    Run total: 02:30:38

    Hello Zack,

I got real close to your numbers but I could not add in the Training Effect values.
Maybe in a future update of the software.
Here ya go....fixed and manufactured a MultiSport with the Fit File Repair Tool.

Help - Messed up my first Tri multisport recording

Think I'm in the right place seems fairly common having read this tread. I did my first tri at the weekend, got the right button as I got out of the swim then messed up as I put the watch in my back pocket (it was under my swim cap old forerunner 305) for transition, long story short I ended up with a short bike and a long run which Strava doesn't like (understandably) as I cant run at 20+mph. I can crop the run but that leaves me with no bike and I don't know how to stitch the bike together. I have opened the .tcx file and it looks like you could move the lap tags around given enough time, but I don't know how much the sites rely on the averages in the stats as they would be incorrect.

Don seems to be the go to man on here, so I'm hoping you see this post and can maybe help me out. I only have the .tcx file as don't think the 305 does .fit files.

My chip times are: garmin file times that would reflect the splits (maybe 5-6 seconds out as I started the watch after we got 10 seconds to start warning)
    Swim 0:18:49 07:59:12 (swim finish)
    T1 (2:48) 0:21:38 08:02:00 (bike start)
    Bike (39:44) 1:01:22 08:41:44 (bike finish)
    T2 (2:32) 1:03:55 08:44:16 (run start)
Run (23:01) 1:26:56 09:07:17 (fun finish) didn't stop watch on the line, told it makes for better photo :-)

Thanks in advance for any help

    Hello Alex,

I had to move your start times a little. Like at the end of your swim were included some 10km/h running during the trans. I backed up the trans start to where you came out of the water. The other trans included some 27km/h bike speeds which I fixed. I also removed the erroneous constant 100bpm heart rate from the swim and trans1.

So....here ya go. A manufactured MultiSport file using the Fit File Repair Tool.

Apologies for the tardy response. (I'll admit it I thought it would email me if you replied and I hadn't bookmarked the thread :o)
What can I say other than thanks so much. I thought I was gong to spend hours messing about in text editor and probably not achieve anything as good as this. Uploaded to strava perfectly (from a feedback point of view there were 20 splits before the actual 5k run don't know if that's the software combining the files) and in no way a complaint.

If you'd like to pm me I'll paypal you some $'s for a cool beer - you more than earned it.

    Hello Alex,

Thanks for the offer but there is no need. I just enjoy fixing files once in awhile. The TCX file did not have any splits in the bike ride if that is what you are referring to but I can add them if it matters.
  • Can anyone help fix my multisport fit files?

Just finished my 70.3 Japan. Accidentally press LAP in my Fenix 3 in middle of bike, so finally created TWO consecutive multisport files.

Wondering if anyone could be kind enough to enlighten me how to fix it?? I could of cuz send the files over!!

    Thanks!
