Edit Multisport activities

Hi,

I tried the search function but could not find anything to resolve my problem..

I have done a triathlon on the weekend and uploaded it to Garmin Connect. I really like that it now shows u as a single event and not as 5 individual activities as before (swim, bike, run and 2 transitions).

My problem is however that I cannot edit the workout. Like so many times I forgot to press lap after the triathlon and now my total time is way too long. I tried to use the edit function and just change the time (how I can do it with normal activities) but my changes are not being saved.

I am not sure if that's a bug, was done by intention or I simply make a mistake but does anyone have a solution on this?

Any help is really welcome!

Thanks

    Hello Jason,

I took a guess at the transitions based on speeds.

So....here ya go. Fixed with the Fit File Repair Tool.
  • Thanks Don. Any reason why it wont upload on garmin connect? it keeps telling me an error occurred

    Hello Jason,

I always check the files I fix by loading them into Connect before sending them out.

I uploaded the original fixed file again and it displayed in Modern just fine.

I downloaded the file I attached to your post and it also uploaded to Modern just fine.

I suspect that you need to delete the original corrupt file (714728127.fit) from Connect. :)
  • Don thanks again i deleted the previous and it uploaded just fine. I was able to get it the other day to upload on classic but it was missing the swim. Now everything is just fine as it would be a perfectly done multisport file for a triathlon. Great help. You were actually 100% accurate on my run time and 13 seconds off the bike. swim is about a minute off but either way exactly what i needed. Thanks for the help. I'd like to learn how to use the fitfilerepair tool seems complicated

    Hello Jason,

Thanks for letting me know that the repair was okay.
Multisport files are a lot of work.
First I have to export each piece to its own separate file.
Then I have make a new file and append each piece in the correct order making one complete file.
Then I repair that complete file if it needs it.
Then I use speed and distance to try and determine where each piece, swim, transition, etc starts and stops and make a separate lap for each piece.
Then I export each lap to its own separate file. Each lap is now a new complete session, swim trans, bike, etc.
Then I make the final new Multisport and import each session in the proper order and append it as a new session.

So you can see how there would be some timing error in the rebuilt file. :)

Yesterday I started a multisport workout (bike and run) but because I ran out of time I was only able to do the bike portion. I pressed "lap" to start my transition then I pressed "lap" again to start the run and finally I pressed stop to end the workout. Now I have a multisport workout on GC and the bike has the correct data but transition and run are false. Is there a way to extract my bike ride only? Thanks!

    Hello Miguel,

Yes, the Tool can extract or make anything out of any file.

So, reading through this thread there is no easy way to fix this? This morning I went for a run, forgot to switch it from bike to run mode from last night. I stopped the bike, saved it, switched to run and the darn thing still counts it as a multisport and I can't ditch the .14 miles of bike. This is actually quite stupid, especially when my workout auto imports to two other sites and I can remove or manipulate the data as much as I want! I guess the new "modern" Garmin Connect is like everything else these days and assumes the user doesn't need features so they take them away?

Hi Don, is there any way you can make my workout a "bike only" activity, deleting transition and run? I can't seem to get the file attachment option to work though. If you can help it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

    Hello Miguel,

Sometimes it helps to ZIP the file down then try and attach it.

Dropbox accounts are free and are very easy to use compared to trying to attach files to this forum.
