Edit Multisport activities

Former Member
Former Member
Hi,

I tried the search function but could not find anything to resolve my problem..

I have done a triathlon on the weekend and uploaded it to Garmin Connect. I really like that it now shows u as a single event and not as 5 individual activities as before (swim, bike, run and 2 transitions).

My problem is however that I cannot edit the workout. Like so many times I forgot to press lap after the triathlon and now my total time is way too long. I tried to use the edit function and just change the time (how I can do it with normal activities) but my changes are not being saved.

I am not sure if that's a bug, was done by intention or I simply make a mistake but does anyone have a solution on this?

Any help is really welcome!

Thanks

    hi Diamantenkiller,

Attach the .fit file from your triathlon in a reply to this post and let me know where you need it trimmed from and using the Fit File Repair Tool, I will get it done for you.

Please make sure that it's the .fit file from your device that you upload and not an exported from Garmin Connect .tcx file otherwise you will lose some of the info like temp BUT if that is all that is available then that is what I can use.

    cheers

I have just noticed the same thing about not being able to edit the individual activities in a Multisport grouping. I also like the multisport view, but cannot use it if I cannot edit the activities within it. I record specific details on each activity (which I am no longer able to do with multisport - except at a higher level). The activity description and Event Type cannot be changed either. Description remains as "running 1, running 2, etc." whereas the Event Type on the activities is set to "Uncategorized". If we are no longer able to edit the activities that make up the Multisport, then I will have to stop using this feature of my watch.
  • I had no problem at all changing the activity type of the multisport event.

    Hello Travis,

    What is the secret?

I uploaded a multi-sport with 8 activities and could not change any of the activity types.

    hi Don,

Were you using the old Connect or the modern Connect? I changed over to modern today and noticed that when doing a 'Quick Edit', I could change the Activity Type.

    cheers

  • What is the secret?

The secret is... me being unable to read and then write correctly. I can change the Event type. The activity type I cannot change, even for the top-level multisport activity.

    Mike,
(also see Thread "Garmin Connect Modern Problems...")
I'm on an iMac. I use Safari, and I don't want to change that.
Unfortunately, last night I noticed that when I click on MultiSport Mode Workouts to edit them, Connect bumps me to Modern. The problem is that I can't edit those individual exercises (from the Multisport workout) in Modern. For example, I wanted to change the TITLE of my swim from 'Other to 'Lap Swim'. Also, when I try to edit the distance of the swim from 2 miles to 2000 yards, it doesn't save the changes.

For another workout I was doing, I tried to switch mid-way through the workout to Running from Biking (i had forgotten to move my 310xt into running mode before starting my run. When I downloaded the data into Connect, it put both of these two workouts into a Multisport workout. I was going to go in and just delete the biking portion of the workout and then edit the time and distance of the run. But, I can''t find a way to delete the bike portion and it doesn't save the changes I've made to the run portion....

Please HELP!!! I hate Modern....and I've tried to give it a chance.

Don't think there is anything that I can do with FFRT to help you out with your first situation - you may just have to bite the bullet like I did with the move from GC Classic to GC Modern (I HATED GC Modern when I first moved over to it as well but I have persevered and know that I understand where everything is and the things that it allows me to change with my activities, I'm glad I did.) Guess what I am saying is hang in there! :D

Now this I am pretty sure that I can help you with! All I need is the .fit file from your workout and the time from where the bike portion starts. Just attach the .fit file in a reply to this post.

I'd be okay moving to Modern if it had the functionality that it now appears to be missing. Unfortunately, Classic seems to have it and Modern does not.

I'd be happy to send you the .fit file. But I'd like to be able to do this modification myself. Additionally, the time where the Bike portion starts is clear because Garmin Connect broke those two exercises up into one Multisport workout with a bike and run section. I just want to delete the bike portion and edit the run portion (which was extremely simple under the Classic interface).

    hi Anitan1,

Okay - you know where I am if you want your .fit file modified.

OPTION - you can flick temporarily into Classic from Modern by click on the 'person head' icon on the left hand side - pic.

    cheers
